Bad THE BAD Will Moon

It's funny that he refers to us as asshats, but he falls short over and over and over again to take responsibility and accountability for his own behavior. For that type of ethic, I would gladly never spend a single cent of my money on any of his knives. His demeanor reeks of immaturity, still hasn't changed one bit since the previous time I banned his account the second time around. Keep giving your money to people like this by all means, but don't come here cryin' about how you got burned or haven't heard back. ;) Caveat Emptor as always!

Funny also how he has no problem creating multiple accounts to draw business from the "asshats on bladeforums" and from "pain in the rear" customers whom don't allow him the artistic freedom he wishes on items that he takes prepayment in full for and then gives them horrible customer service, communication and outright lies to. All the while tooling around college campus in his 328xi, both of which these "Asshats" and "Pains in the rear" are likely helping him pay for.
Perhaps he would be more honest and humble if he were eating ramen noodles every night after tooling to school at a lesser and cheaper campus on his bicycle.....

I've said it before and i'll say it again: Never ever prepay in full to a maker. You are only putting yourself at their mercy and will. Only do so when they have a tried, true and tested history of keeping their promises and provide customer service commensurate with the prices you are paying them....and even then make sure you make payment in some form so that you can get your money back if anything goes awry.

It's amazing to me that people still send this dude money. So many red flags! On the opposite side, you find so many makers out there that cover their bases and appreciate the customers and what they do. I trust Will Moon like I trust a flaming bag of shit on my doorstep.

I personally cannot stand the guy, we didn't get along on the benchmade forum. Dingo always seemed like a big baby to me and was always contradicting himself. I never understood taking a nice knife and drilling a bunch of crooked holes, slapping on some glow in the dark crap and calling it an improvement. To each his own, some collectors like his designs and my taste is my own.
I always got the impression that someone in his family had some cash and/or a machine shop he was taking credit for, I could be wrong, haven't researched the guy.
Hard to believe he's getting that kind of money up front for his designs and he still can't deliver.
Starting to feel a little liu kang to me!

We are new to knife collecting and honestly doing research before this post = zero negative feedback 5 months ago when we paid in full. Lesson learned.

As far as will's comment on letting the maker have artistic freedom, that sucks. We paid for a designer model which cost $200 more. The designers were at will's artistic discretion, which you would think would be better than the base model. Base models have some type of inserts, this one had zero inserts, wth. He had all the freedom to make whatever he wanted for this knife and he chose to make plain scales with no inserts. Very disappointed and quite frankly just a waste of $900.

Thats wrong, I'm sorry you are disappointed brother and again I'm sorry I was rude to you. This entire thread has changed my opinion of Moon. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. I will never give him another dollar for the way he treated you and the way he acted in this thread. I wish you the best my friend. Most makers are great guys who do care for their customers.

If it is not the knife you ordered I would contact Will and have him provide what you were expecting or ask for a full refund and return the knife. At this point after his lies and shill accounts I know which one I would ask for. He will soon realize how damaging threads like this are to his customer base and reputation. Who wants to carry a knife from a maker who is clearly deceitful in every way? Not me!

Quote from his site: "We stand behind our knives 100%. If for any reason you have an issue with your Moon knife, please email us at support@willmooncustomknives.com and we'll be happy to take care of you." Judging by his comments he is not happy to take care of customers or problems.

A reputable maker would not IMO make a fake account and pretend to be someone else, he/she would get on and try to make things right or at least tell their side of his story. Childish tactics.

Thanks bro. You are a good guy.

I'm pretty sure I know why I got plain scales, it's because I posted on here and I'm assuming since he was behind he just sent the knife with no inserts. When we bought the knife it clearly stated it was at his discretion, so when *i agree to something I stand by it. Even if it is a raw deal, I'll eat it.

Just for the record this is what he told me on a Facebook email:

"If you see any knives for sale on my FB page, it's because people cancelled their orders halfway or the majority of the way thru a build and I decided to go ahead and finish up their knife. I know it makes people angry when they have custom orders in and see a knife up for general sale, that's why I try not to do that, but pre-tax season had me worried about cash flow, especially having just laid out a lot of money for that custom three-phase digital power converter."

I fail to see what his taxes have to do with not finishing our order or skimping on design.

I don't know how to post pics but here is the knife from his Facebook page. You tell me if it looks like an upgraded designer https://www.facebook.com/113088668765173/photos/pcb.621778671229501/621778437896191/?type=1

I have just happened across this thread and it's excellent that it's here. It's a shame that Mr. Moon has been getting away with this kind of behavior for so long and yet due diligence in research did not expose what we now know are many many dissatisfied customers with stories about deception, shoddy workmanship, and just plain asshole behavior. I read all of the 250+ posts on IG about Mr. Moon and not ONE of them was positive - except for some guy defending him just to defend him - and now I think that could have been Will as well.... So, hopefully anyone else considering doing business with him will search for his name on Google and this post will pop up. At least I hope it will....

His taxes are just another excuse to cover why he's not handling his business properly, like school, broken equipment, illness, his gf, his family probs, etc, etc. Generally people are nice, and understanding of life getting in the way but once they know you are not a man of your word the reasons no longer matter.

I cant believe this POS is still around. Knew of the dingo asshole from another board years ago. Multiple user names, full of shit in every breath and key stroke. Tales of school, and hardship. (should be a fucking PhD by this time, if it were so) When would he even have time for studies between the half dozen user names and the lousy products he grinds out. Loves to hear the sound of his own voice and the look of his own text. Complete malignant narcissist. Blatant taking advantage of members and lying are his MO. Not even slick about it. Tries to come across as the recalcitrant type, (not an accidental use of the descriptive) however he is just one of these guys who thinks he is smart and thinks you the fool.

I remember that FriskyDingo scumbag.

I remember he backed out of a trade he agreed to do with me a long time ago. Now looking back at his long history of being a whiny POS with nothing but pathetic excuses, I am so glad he did. And I know, he's secretly following this thread and reading all of our replies.

You're a low life piece of trash Will. :thumbdn:
