I'm very dissapointed in S30V steel. It's supposed to be the latest super steel but ofter hacking through only one concrete block and skinning only one small car, it's not shaving sharp any more and the edge has chipped severely.:(

you clearly got one from a bad batch. Send it back, along with a harshly-worded letter, to the manufacturer. And demand to be reimbursed for shipping as well.

A good S30 blade will, if sharpened to 10 degrees of course, cut through granite and still be able to shave the hair off your nuts.

if you have it nitride coated while pointed north it will push cut thru meteorite.

I was cutting thin sections of meteorite with my Sebenza so I could carve a new meteor handle slab. But now I'm worried because I really had to slice at the thing, not anywhere near a push cut. Do you think my minus 15 angle inclusive is too blunt?

Does it now glow in the dark and point North when you lay it on a flat surface?

I've heard meteorites do that.

I tried batoning my seb thru meteorite and this is what happened....

faulty heat treat ??

my sisters kid is pissed , as she might now miss majorette class , so I bought her a Cold Steel cane instead.

S30V Sucks. :grumpy:

I have a Microtech UMS. It is so hard to sharpen on anything but diamond rods.

I can get a wicked sharp edge that lasts for months with diamond rods, but I just prefer not to use diamond rods to sharpen my knife. I'd rather use a benchstone and some honing oil.

Of course, sharpening takes forever with a benchstone, and I can't get the edge the diamond rods create.

I only use it for show now. :grumpy:

I drove my Volkswagen repeatedly into a wall, and it broke. I e-mailed the Volkswagen company that they had to provide me with a new car. They did not want to do that. They claim I abused the car!

What kind of customer service is that????:grumpy:

OK driving into walls may not be the purpose of a car, but it was only a tiny weeny concrete wall... and I think the car should be able to handle that. I will never buy a volkswagen again!:grumpy:

You should skip batoning through a meteorite and instead baton through a majorette, the results should be surprising.

Obviously this is because you're not using a good old-fashioned car. This is your fault for buying into the new car hype, with your fancy anti-lock brakes and air conditioning. There have been no improvements made over good, old-fashioned cars.

I run my old-fashioned car into cement walls all the time, and it comes out just fine. Sure, there are dents and dings everywhere, and my mechanic tried to feed me some bull about the frame and axle being bent, but it's all part of the hype to get me to buy a new car! Don't fall for it!

Sorry , Jos , you used the wrong tool for the job. I am guessing you were using a Jetta , those are only good for performing Jetta mind tricks , for best results use a tool named for the job " Dodge Ram ".

Enderwiggin , those are not dents and bends , that's called dentina and happens with age on non stainless steels.

Right tool for the job...

There are certain models that can Endura plenty of hard use. Rather than raise a Rukus and go on a Tyrade , stop being a Resistor to trying something new , perhaps you should take a Pikka into the future.

Not everything is new , some is just Dejavoo , or like a Sequel. These new knives are certainly worth their Salt , and are made for Civilian use. If you give them a chance , you will find you can Kopa with these new steels just fine. Their higher costs are Offset with longer life , while not looking like something you dug up in the Junkyard.

Look back in a few years and your worries will just be a Whirlwind Blur .

;)
