(The only answer missing is how to get over the contradiction of "get a Seb, is the end all agreement" and in the same initial posting stating that only custom knives are the real thing. It's like complementing the "get a sharpmaker, period" advice with "but for carbon knives, get waterstones".

If I am in a plane crash and end up on a desert island, what 3 knives would you recommend?

- Take whatever you want, they will take it from you before you get on the plane anyway.


I missed the beginning: how did that guy on "Lost" got his knife?
 
"Yes, get a Sebenza! ( It is worth it, trust me find out for yourself )

Use a Sharpmaker, you will LOVE it!

Customs are always better than production, while there might be flaws, the handmade knives have SOUL, get one and find out for yourself!"

Sebenzas are made well but don't cut as well as a full flat ground blade like a Para-Military

Customs can be hit or miss. I have seen customs that were not as well made as most productions. $400 for a poorly made custom makes you feel like a big idiot.

Sharpmaker, can't say, never used one. I have to say that I have seen some knives that were sharpened by a Sharpmaker and I was not impressed. My Lansky gives a factory perfect edge every time but it is slow and a pain to use.

I have a knife from my brother's uncle's brother's son's dude who lives next to me. I'm told it is rusty from getting dropped in the river at the alamo, can anyone tell what it is? I don't plan to sell it until you prove to me that it is fake, then I will misrepresent it for a fortune and totally pwn you all!@!1

All testing is done by highly trained individuals, do not throw your knife at ANY cinder blocks ;)
 
If you are looking for a particular type of knife and have no model in mind yet, GIVE A PRICE RANGE!
