The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

I spent a few hours this afternoon over in the shop and finally got my 6 drawers largely finished with the faces and slides mounted, and installed in the bottoms of the two carcasses. Just a little spot clean-up on some of the edge-banding left along with tweaking the slides for alignment and closing. I had my pocket sword along with me--surely enough blade to open the poly bags the slides came in. ;)

Those drawers look great and remind me how unsatisfied I am with some custom drawers I had put in my home office.

Over the last couple of days, I have read through every post on these 72 pages... and I am glad I did... I have learned a lot about my collection of Shirogorov knives...

Several years ago (7?) I received an email from TNK (as an old customer) expounding the virtues of their collaboration (wow... actual Russian collaboration) with Shirogorov knives to have an exclusive run of #100 TNK Cannabis folders... I loved the look... I bought one and was quite impressed... then another and another... I have actually purchased twelve Shirogorovs...(the twelfth, a CF Model 111, is out on a test-run with a potential buyer)

so... I have a 440C Tabargan, an S30V Model 95* (G-10 Inlays), a Cronidur 30 Model 95*, a Vanax 35 Model F3, an S30V CF Hati, an Elmax Model F3 CF, an M390 F95RT, and an RWL34 Hati G-10, along with 3 TNK Cannibis. (* = can't find the boxes)

The thing is... I need to sell most of these... because I just lost my job. Any input on value would be appreciated (pm would probably be best) so that I can start listing these on the for-sale forum...

really, any help would be most appreciated

Sympathy on the job loss. Anyone of a certain age knows how this may affect you. From my own experience, don’t spend a whole lot of time wallowing in misery. Some of it is expected and natural. Think positive, and get out and find something suited to your talents. It may sound trite, but it’s true. One door closes, other doors open.

Selling prices on your collection? I would check ‘Completed Sales’ listings of similar models on the bay. Good luck in your efforts in both directions.

Got a opportunity to purchase a Pero for the Lottery price from the dealer $1460.00 I only own the Neon for shiro's and love it is this knife close to 3 times better? Would I be able to resell at cost if I don't care for it. Not sure I would use a knife I paid that much for. So I am on the fence which way should I jump? I can afford it but would take some of my fun money away. HELP PLEASE!!!

I’ve seen several Pero’s pop up on the exchange between 1800 and 1600. So you could probably flip it for what you put into it. I could take a while to sale though I see 3 on there right now.

I don't expect you'd have any trouble selling the Pero and likely for more than you paid for it. A quick scan of the internet just now shows asking prices in the $1600 to $2600 range and I'm sure there are a number that have sold within that range already. There were only 200 made altogether and the run won't be repeated.

As to whether it's three times better than a NeOn, that's really not quantifiable. It is a limited edition piece and there's a lot more handwork that goes into a knife like that than a serial production model. Obviously, its rarity plays into the price and its collectibility sets the market value for it. Personally, I'm happy with my serial production Shiros which are all currently users. I had a one-off, customized Shiro that I couldn't bear to carry and mark up and ended up selling it to fund another that I carry and use. I do miss the knife that's gone, though.

On the other hand, the Pero is a gorgeous collab from Sergey and Dmitry and would be a great addition to any collection.

Assuming they're in brand new and unused condition you should be able to get more or less what you paid for. Some of the knives you listed seem to be on the older side judging by the steels used. This could work both for and against you. For the relatively rare models such as the 95 with G10 inlays, the Cronidur 30 Model 95 and the Hati in RWL34 I would anticipate you getting a somewhat higher offer than what you paid. For those in not-so-super-anymore steels without the latest bearing configurations perhaps the same or a little less than what you paid. I believe the only knife listed still in production is the F95RT (depending on the bearing configuration, but the jimping on the spine of the blade appears to be of the newer variety) so refer to Recon1 to get an idea of the pricing.

The Pero in my opinion is worth it's price. That said, it is not quite the EDC knife the Neon is due to its size and rarity. If memory serves if you are selected in a lottery and don't make the purchase you'll be excluded from future lotteries.

Thanks, CCP...

I am much more comfortable selling my Spyderco and ZT knives

I will contact Recon1 and ask them for pricing recommendations

Cheers
