The Becker, Hiking Stove, Camp Stove, and Cookset/Mess Kit Thread

Dubz, I'm still contemplating legs, but I am totally going to steal that computer fan cover idea for sure.
I looked around on the 'bay and saw some thinner stock stuff and one thicker one like you have. Going to look locally first though.

Steal away, I stole it too, haha. I believe I got the fan cover from ePrey. I think if I were to do it again, I would make the legs a bit shorter. I've never used this, but it doesn't seem like sticks would feed into it as well being higher off the ground. I made the legs out of an extendible window scraper handle I got at Wally. It was cheaper than buying aluminum tubing. Also, I would have made the feed hole smaller. I think there was a reason I made it bigger, but it was so long ago, I forgot. Perhaps I was thinking pine cones would fit into it better, who knows. I made the cut way too close to the holes though.

I think I'm going to make another for my 12cm Zebra pot. Have to get a bigger drainer though. The IKEA diameter, and the Zebra diameter are about the same.

My simple hobo stove/Billy can combo.
Works like a charm and you can't beat the price... :)

Nice Switchblade. I'm gonna make anudderin for a different cook set..

i like that coffee can setup. It looks like a cool DIY stove. I'm going to have to try that when my coffee runs out.

Emberlit's are freakin' great man. Doesn't the heat take the paint off the table?

Must be some good paint. Either that, or the Emberlit doesn't get as hot on the bottom as I thought.

I believe that it is powder coat it has spent 15 years at least outside and none of it has rusted. I dont burn the emberlit on it all the time but there was 2 feet of snow everywhere so the table it was!

I like that DIY stove, Dubz! Have you tested the PC fan guard with heat? I'm wondering if the metal holds up to it or not.

Never tested it, but have seen it a few times on various threads. I linked to where I got the idea from.

I see the link now, thanks! Missed it when I read it on my phone.

Here's the only fail in the kit. You would think they'd have designed the handles so that you could combine the two shorter ones into one long handle. Not so.
The tabs don't quite catch. Well, one catches, but the other side does not. Would probably still work, but it's not as trustworthy as it might be.

Somebody over at BCUSA advised putting more ass into it and wiggling the handle harder from side to side. That worked for me. No fail after all.

So after I bought the Rothco lids and I couldnt even come close to getting them to fit a GI cup I got a stainless Rothco cup and the little stove that is supposed to nest over the cup. Well it dosnt. I guess thats what you get for $5.

I was looking into buying the Rothco lids and found out that they only fit the Rothco cups. I also read that the Rothco canteen goes into the stove and then both should fit into the cup. Does that work?

Maybe but a GI canteen dosnt. However I cut the stove right by the feed port and now it nests nicely and it still holds the cup securely.

They don't next over the cup like a GI stove. They nest inside the cup. I have two GI setups and the stoves go on the outside. On my Chinese version, the stove has to go inside the cup. Makes a tighter fit on the canteen, but it will work.
