The Beer Scout Knife

Awesome! Glad to see these again I also missed on the first run! I have an order for the Micarta and oily creek bone! I hope the oily creek bone has enough demand to go through! Fingers crossed

Hoping the Oily Creek SFO makes it to production...

'Oily' bone without a bail or shield is the only thing I want out of this run (other than the clip blade I'm not going to get). If GEC produces another run of 'radio' knives sometime after the beer scouts, I would really like to see other main blade options.

I think there may be some confusion based on some of the earlier posts. I'm no authority and have no knowledge beyond what I read in the ER system, but it looks like there are two products:

1) Beer Scouts Knives (with the beer scout shield and EO notch and bail)....pretty much just like last time only with different covers.

2) Boys Knives with a sheepfoot main and a cap lifter secondary (without a shield, without a bail...but...WITH an EO notch).

Presumably, if A SFO goes through for CK.net in oily creek bone, it would have a shield, but NOT a beer scout shield. I say "presumably" because I have no real knowledge. But the last time CK.net did a SFO (heck, with all SFOs of "beer scouts" last time) there was a shield but it was NOT a beer scout shield.

This is my interpretation of what in the ER system.

But, ultimately, I'm glad they're coming back, too!

The Gunscout was a very attractive rendition last time around. I wonder if there will be another along with these.

You're probably right, although I'll be happy with one either way, as long as it has some kind of shield. I just hope it gets green-lighted.

maybe the popularity of the BSK has knocked this SFO out as Mike did write that it depended on the popularity on the regular factory orders whether it would be done or not, although I hope this SFO will occur.

The Oily Creeks are locked already? - How come?

The production numbers for the non-SFO run may already be reducing the likelihood of Oily Creek down to almost none.
Sigh.

I guess Mike is hedging his bets so as not to disappoint. I can't blame him.

However, great to see GEC doing another run of these knives. If these are as popular as the first run, the likelihood of another run goes up and the handle choices only become more diverse as time goes on.

Hope springs eternal, we just need to be patient.

I'm in for both wood and micarta versions of the BSK. I've been contemplating for the past 6 months if I wanted to drop the extra $$ for one off of the Exchange, but thankfully, GEC and CK made up my mind for me. What are y'all's preferences for wood and micarta color? I think I'd like to see a Bubinga or darker cocobolo handle and maroon micarta. I know blue denim micarta is a Northwoods thing not likely to happen with GEC, but I would definitely love a Blue Denim BSK. Hell, I'd probably buy a few.

My bank account hopes blue denim micarta is not offered! I have 5 from the original run (Gun-scout being my favorite) and wasn't planning to pick up any of the new batch. Blue denim micarta could change that. I'll keep telling myself it's unlikely...

Seeing the Beer Scouts in the general area of this forum is what got me over to the Porch. I was trying to figure out where to buy one, but alas they were all sold out by the time they even hit my radar. Very (VERY) happy to see another run. I'm in for sure on the jiged bone and a very strong maybe on the wood. I don't buy duplicates of models, and I never have pre-ordered a knife. The Beer Scout is just that special (to me anyway). And the sheep footblade is just icing. So jazzed up right now:)

They've done Cocobolo and Ebony for the regular run and Bloodwood SFO already so I wouldn't mind seeing Kingswood on this run. The disinctive grain pattern of Kingswood would look great with the Beerscout shield. I hope they don't do Osage Orange or Mexican Bocote. American Walnut or Bloodwood is my ideal pick, but don't see that happening....

I'm really on the fence here. Got most of last years #15 caplifters so without some notable change, I'm lacking purpose/motivation.

I second chestnut or oak. Would be nice to see some different types of wood and these caplifters are the perfect place to have a little fun. Canal Street's reclaimed american chestnut would look amazing on a beer scout!
