I haven't given in and ordered a tortoise. They look too good in your guys' hands for me to own one. I do like the idea of the sunbright or nifebright mixed with the tortoise pattern though! That would be awesome!

Tortoise was finishing up and the final bit didn't ship from the factory until Thursday; which means most dealers didn't get them until yesterday. A few of the chestnut shipped to the small orders on Thursday but the big part of them won't ship from the factory until tomorrow. They are just getting going on the smooth ivory, so don't expect the biggest part of them to ship from the factory on Friday. Beer glasses had to come UPS (at least to me) so I am getting my first batch today (crossing fingers).

Well crap looks like I won't be getting my sawcut before I leave for my 10 day vacation. Paid last Thursday. Oh well, at least I'll have something to look forward to when though with the beach.

Wow, pristine looking Tortoise, Paul! You dawg, I wondered if you were getting any?:D

Hey ED, I think that's a great idea for making the shield less bold and it looks fantastic on yours!

Hey guys, pardon my newness... but where is the best place to order these new GEC releases from?

Perry, thanks my friend, it was nice looking at everyone else's but it was really nice having this one show up today:o:)

I agree with all others Paul, I really like how deep that acrylic looks

Thank you as well Tim, I got lucky with my pictures capturing the depth of the tortoise shell:thumbup:

You certainly got a killer one, Paul! If I could just nerd out for a moment. Here's mine in the tray at the factory last week. Pre bail of course.

Just to let everyone know, there was so much oil in both my new knife's joints when I received them that it made the operating of the blades slow or sluggish. Once I washed out the joints and re-oiled them, all changed for the better. Great snap on both now, like a new knife should be. Can't wait for my smooth bone either!

Had the same problem, Singing, that you had. Very sluggish snap. I took your advice and cleaned the knife with soap and water. Used a pipe cleaner to scrub the channels, and was surprised to see how much black gunk came out on the pipe cleaner. I oiled that baby up with some mineral oil, and walah! mission accomplished. Nice snap like you'd expect from a GEC knife. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey, I'm waiting on a smooth bone too.....can't wait.

Nice one Todd. That sunbrite acrylic must have a hundred watt bulb in there somewhere.:D Beautiful knife, beautifully photographed....good job man....congrats!

Ok a couple questions regarding the history of this new knife:

1) What pattern Scout knife is this from?

2) Who made the 1st "Beer Scout" and coined the name?

Only 778 posts before you that you need to read. Pretty sure it's just the GEC #15 pattern, not another scout knife and go back a few pages for the origin.
