The Beer Scout Knife

Beautiful! Also, nice photo. You captured the depth perfectly.

That shot of your cocobolo and tortoise are awesome, takokato and Erik!!

Nice pics Erik and Takokato.

Thank you all, I have Paul Hilborn to thank. I saw his tortoise shell and decided instantly I wanted one. I am not always a fan of acrylic covers but for some reason the tortoise shell seems to fit this knife.

I think the natural micarta is going to be killer as well.

Mine arrived today. The smooth ivory bone is beautiful and the blade is nice and sharp. The sheepsfoot is a 4 but the caplifter is pushing a 9. My thumbnail is in danger. I also wish that the shield only said "Beer Scout" with a larger "S" centered in the middle. YMMV but I still love the knife. The bail is what really makes this one a keeper and it is sure to displace my spear point caplifter.

The cocobolo Beer Scout has arrived!!

Great fit and finish. Pull on main is about a 5, caplifter about a 6. Great covers on my example. I am not sure if the bail will stay or not; adds bulk without much utility for me. Ivory bone on the way tomorrow.
thanks,
Brian

FINALLY got my 2 Beer Scouts.... couldn't be happier! I fell in love with the cocobolo right out of the tube.

Took a few quick iphone shots... here's a good representation. I'm a happy camper!!!

Lots of micarta pics up now. Kinda wish the white bone and micarta had switched shields. White bone could be my dressier beer drinking knife and micarta my normal beer knife.

I received my saw cut beer scout today. :) It's raining so I haven't had a chance to take a photo. The saw cut bone handles are so cool!

It was great to see the photos of the "soda scouts" on the GEC website. I zOOmed in to look at the shields and it looks like it will have the plain font that I liked. :) I will be buying both versions.

I'm looking forward to seeing the first glimpse of the other SFOs also. :)

I am loving how different and individual the cocobolo Beer Scouts look with each different one I see. I was a little concerned initially about this, as it seemed that more often than not, cocobolo covers were pretty uniform on the other knives I had gotten in this cover material. Not so with this group, that's for sure!
Interestingly, I went back and looked at a screen grab I did when the cocobolo made GEC's "cover", and I do believe that I somehow scored one of the 2 cover models!! The color varies with light, but each little band of color and each visible open wood grain lines up between the picture and what I have.
That is pretty cool to me. I somehow convinced a model to take me out for a beer!;)
Thanks,
Brian

Great pictures everyone:thumbup:

Carried with bail for a few days, will try bailless for a few and see which one floats my boat...
