The Beer Scout Knife

Not sure. There was an option to have it sized to the knife in the order. So it was all done at Collectorknives HQ. Think it might be a large wide.

I have been putting the Medium in with the #153215 models but they seem a little tight to me (will work in a bit). I have a Medium-Wide coming that will be a little more custom fit.

Hey guys, just got a stunning BS in Cocobolo scales. I was very excited until I tried to open the cap lifter.. holy cow the pull was dang near impossible. Actually bent my nail back. Anyone else have this issue?

Mine is ivory bone and the pull on the main blade is 5 and the cap lifter 5-6.

I'd say both caplifters are a solid 6, no higher. Seems like a handful had pretty tight pulls on them, I've heard others complain as well.

Is there an actual specified scale for these pull numbers everyone uses, or does everyone just compare to all their other knives basically?

Thanks for the kind words about my Beer Scout J_Curd and Lemmy! The luck of the draw has been working in my favor lately.
I have a plan for the Beer Scout; here is my weekend camping/hiking cocobolo pocket party pack.

Figured I would ask if such a scale existed before searching for it. Hope you weren't too put out answering my question. Thanks

Also, I tired searching pull rating through tapatalk just now. Made it through the first 100+ threads without seeing the one you linked. Probably would have just assumed no such scale existed if I hadn't asked.

Touched a bone did it?? Let's get back to discussing the topic of the thread "The Beer Scout Knife"

Yesterday, you asked in a post #1147 of this thread:

If anyone removes the bail send it me. I need one for another knife

Why would they do that since they can be obtained from the OEM?

You didn't touch any of my bones lol

You obviously didn't catch the smiley at the end. [emoji6]

As for the bail, I didn't know the OEM would just send me one. Thanks for the heads up!

Ordered a smooth ivory bone from collectors knives. This will be my first traditional knife I ever purchased. Growing up my dad gave a red bone trapper knife, made by Frost Cutlery I believe, I thought it was a real Case knife just like his and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. He still only carries Case Red Bone Trappers to this day. Can't wait to show him the Beer Scout next time I see him.

GEC really did a great job with these knives. Fit and finish is impressive, great walk & talk, flush in all positions and moderate pulls. What really stands out on my examples though is the blade grinding. Crisp & straight plunges, symmetrical swedges, thin & true edge and perfectly centered tips. Whomever is responsible for grinding these did a wonderful job!

The white smooth bone arrived today; did not fail to impress in the least. The caplifter pull is a bit stouter than my other one (maybe a 6.5 to 7), but after the weekend I will clean and oil it. GEC knocked this run out of the park.

I would call mine a perfect smooth 6 on both. Hope the next one is the same. Giving the white bone another workout on this Friday afternoon.

Erik, thanks!

While I know some don't care for blade etches, I really like the "BS" etch. So much in fact I would have preferred it stamped... ;)
