The Beer Scout Knife

Might have helped, I definitely would have given it a shot.

Too bad my issue was ths lace not fitting due to the larger diameter, hence the twisting. I had to work the material down to a thinner and softer state of rest. The skeined part was tearing off if it was anything less than 1/2 thickness.
------------
It does look like paper micarta to me as well, which is why I haven't sanded mine already... I would have Loved canvas... To the fact that I am considering a rescale in the future.

it's always easier to "pull" something a tad bigger through a hold than to "push" it, especially leather since it just compressed itself and as a result give it a bigger diameter.

I've pulled some pretty thick leather through small holes with finishing line - as long as you know how to tie a good knot so it holds, you should be golden.

can't wait to see your Beer Scout after sanding :)

Glug, glug, glug!

Knife brethren, these Brazilian Bloodwood covers came out great! Super tight grain on all of 'em, and they are very uniform in color and texture. I sent out half the order today and the rest will ship Monday, God willin'. They are very, very pretty! Bill and company did us up right! Thanks and major kudos to Bill and the crew at GEC!!!!

edit: I forgot to add that the wood has super chatoyance and really 'lights up' when you turn it in sunlight. Sweet!

Here's an image showing some of the black-ish coloration near the easy-open cutout of my white Beer Scout Knife (<-- one has to write all three words ;)):

I haven't attempted to remove any of it, as per Barry's guidelines or otherwise. As I mentioned previously, it doesn't bother me, and in fact I kinda like it-- although I understand that others may not feel the same.

I look forward to seeing the effects of time and use on this 'peppered' knife. :)

It's interesting you posted this. As many know I ordered a saw cut bone and I loved it, but a closer look in sunlight revealed a crack in the scale. The seller was out of the saw cut, so I returned for a full refund. I looked and looked for another sawcut bone that day with no luck. I could not wait for my refund to hit, I had to buy another one immediately of course. My second choice was the smooth Ivory bone. I noticed one of BF's sponsors had one available so I went ahead and ordered one. I recieved it today. It is a beauty. I'm curious as to what the scales will look like after long term use? I'm guessing they will get darker over time. The color is really growing on me though. I cracked open a Sierra Nevada and asked my wife what she thought about my $100 bottle opener. She didn't think that was too funny lol. Cheers

This came in today... Covers are very smooth... The color looks more pronounced in the picture, it's a bit dull in real life...

Mine has more color/shade variation than that one shows in the picture. Not sure if it's a material variation or mine just sat longer in the heat and oily paper in transit. It also has the smoothest caplifter blade of any of my three, and the loosest bail.

Hey Barry, when I saw this I almost had chatoyance in my pants! Outstanding and kudos to you and Bill for putting these together! I love it!

I agree that the micarta looks more like paper than linen micarta. I don't care for it but the Brazilian bloodwood is the best looking one. I like my smooth ivory bone a lot but now I may "need" two. :D

Beautiful knife, Barry. I got my shipping notice today. :)

These two perfect examples of the pattern arrived today. The paracord bracelet was a nice surprise gift from Collector Knives. The latch on the bracelet is also a whistle --My little niece figured that one out (she's smarter than me).
