The Beer Scout Knife

My micarta will be here tomorrow. Love being in Redding CA, great beer and outdoor activities. Got some Emerald Triangle IPA waiting to be opened :D

Back from a relaxing late night swim with the wife and decided to snap a few pics of the collection.

Then this guy decided to wake up and join me.

I normally use 200 to knock the polish/high grit finish off, then use 80 for some texture.

Keep in mind, you may want to touch up the shield up to 400-600 grit for a satin finish so it doesn't look too scratched and unintentional.

I will edit with a pic of my sodbuster to show the finish from the 200/80 combo on linen micarta.

Edit:

You can also use a few coats of nail polish on the shield and bolsters, and remove it later with acetone :)

Nice trio, tdkfm. And now we can see the full range of uses:

- knife
- cap lifter
- screwdriver
- pacifier!

:)

Soda Scout just arrived. Very clean and modern looking linen micarta scales do have a lot of color variation in Ca. sunshine.

I have a beer scout knife ivory bone on the way. This will bet first one, an definitely not my last based on the sweet pictures of other models and handles.
Excuse my ignorance, what is the real difference between the beer and soda scout? Obviously besides the name.

The shield on the soda scout just says "scout" rather than "beer scout knife". That's it other than different covers.

Where are the bloodwood pictures? Look great in the factory and Barry's pics, but want to see some in the wild.

Feel free to send me one and I will post it. I bought two micarta, but only one is staying with me...

Why am I the only person in my family that gifts quality knives? ... does anybody else feel that way?

Maybe you need to start a new family tradition...
They are gunstockjack's SFO and they started going out Wednesday; I figured we would be seeing some by now.

I just got my shipping notice yesterday for the Bloodwood. Should have it Monday and I will try to take a few classy pictures for everyone.

So with it being from gunstockjacks, your saying it would be someone from my (Bladeforums) family that should gift me a bloodwood?
Why Thank You Mike, You are too kind...

just messing with you. I would love to have the disposable income to spend on another. If I didn't have a knife in the works for me, I could allocate the funds elsewhere.

I had to make a choice among the many, and I went with Yours. Even going so far as to get a refund on a saw cut.

Thanks for the service.

If anybody had gotten their bloodwood yet, I think we would definitely see some pics :)

Monday will be a trifecta day for me. Bloodwood, micarta and red saw-cut :D

Monday for me as well on the bloodwood. Was hoping the USPS was going to underpromise and overdeliver, and get it to me today, but it is not to be.

The first half of the BW order was rec'd Friday, and individual orders shipped same day. I should get the rest of the order Monday morning and I'll get them shipped same day. They are quite uniform in color and grain and they should start landing on Monday.

They're real purdy!!! :o:D:o:D:o

My two Soda Scouts are here and WOW, what great knives. Fit and finish is incredible!

I do like my sawcut rare!!! Macchina...these two shots have that nice freshly clotted look!
Have to wait till next week for both the red sawcut and bloodwood.

these will be waiting for me for after my hike

Thanks Barry for the update! I resisted (hard to do I might add) buying any of the Soda/Beer 15s knowing this one was coming. The pictures look fantastic and this one has all the features I was looking for. Thanks for all your work to produce this model. Best, Lloyd
