The Beer Scout Knife

Just a reminder, since I see one reference that doesn't belong. Let's keep it about the knives, guys. Not who has or doesn't have them in stock. Thanks.

GUNSCOUT-A 76 with caplifter;-). Or in Queen's world the #40 pattern with the same........I believe a member on here used "sketch-up" to show what it would look like for a thread that okbohn started re: suggested Northwoods patterns.

Good point Gary and thank you! Barry, that's a great pic you posted with your rifle! Yours looks great too, Jake!

Gun Scout Time! Thanks Barry!

Sorry for that Gary. Today was the day to purchase one and I was freaking out a little bit. :o

Got my bloodwood in today, much to my (pleasant) surprise! Gorgeous knife. Just jaw-dropping to handle in person.

I have to say, while the Beer Scout shield doesn't really bother me, it does add a whimsical flair to an otherwise beautiful knife. With the shields on this SFO from Barry, you've got a gorgeous knife that just oozes class! It's like... the beer scout for fancy occasions. :)

Haven't had a chance to take any pics yet, but I'm sure they wouldn't compare to what's already been posted.

My blood red sawcut bone soda scout arrived, and it is perfect! A lot of the photos make the sawcut portion look almost black, but this is nice and red all the way, just what I had hoped for. And even though it's the "soda scout" it won't be pulling too much duty on the soft drinks. First opened is an IPA from a friend at work who does home brewing. Mmmmm, good!

Got my natural micarta "Soda Scout" today and am quite impressed. This knife went right into my pocket and will open up some beverages this weekend. It is a very handy "scout" knife.

Thought some of you folk might like to see a couple of early prototypes ;)

I just love every knife that tells its owner to oil the joints. Every darn one of them.

Me, too! I even attempted a patina-surrounded OIL ME 'pattern' on the back of my sunfish blade, once upon a time (the blade being wide enough to present a billboard or sorts). :D

-- Barry, congratulations on your Gunscout. They look a treat! Well-appointed pieces, those.

-- Anyone have pictures of a scuffed (or otherwise addressed) micarta Beer Scout? From this distance, they look to be of similar (non)texture to the linen micarta used on the '13 Bladeforums Congress Jacks...? Any evidence of linen?

I'm also waiting too see someone's stripped down micarta covers. For the life of me I can't find any trace of weave even under a strong direct light. I'm assuming maybe a tightly woven dense piece of linen was used?

Just received these today. I call them my Sarsaparilla Poppers.

Close up of the linen micarta. Seems a little lack luster to me. What do you have to say?

My brother says it looks like a piece of Caramel.

Many love it - but I'm personally not a fan. Maybe if it was canvas, but not in natural form. I still have my fingers crossed for an OD Canvas Micarta one of these days. :)

I like the red sawcut tho - I got one of those to add to my collection of Beer Scouts/Soda Scouts.

So, your the one who has it ! :p
Im really loving the wood handled scouts.

The next will definitely be a gun scout.
Is it possible to get a gun scout, or any scout, without the shield?

I love mine. It's plain but very different from anything else I have. Linen Micarta is very durable and has a nice quality about it: a depth and very unique color.
