The Beer Scout Knife

Me, too! I even attempted a patina-surrounded OIL ME 'pattern' on the back of my sunfish blade, once upon a time (the blade being wide enough to present a billboard or sorts). :D

-- Barry, congratulations on your Gunscout. They look a treat! Well-appointed pieces, those.

-- Anyone have pictures of a scuffed (or otherwise addressed) micarta Beer Scout? From this distance, they look to be of similar (non)texture to the linen micarta used on the '13 Bladeforums Congress Jacks...? Any evidence of linen?

~ P.

P, absolutely no evidence of linen on mine. Even in the EO it has no fiber base. Looks surprisingly like paper Micarta to me? But you know what, it looks REAL good and I think I might prefer it. Looks like butterscotch as others have mentioned and will only look better after a few years of age and use (kinda like me? 😝 ) .

Barry took my money for the 'Barry Bloodwood Beer Scout' but I never received a tracking, possibly because of my checkout method?

Regardless, I suspect it may arrive tomorrow... I hope so anyway as I'm off. Hopefully my beer mug beads arrive tomorrow, too, although it may be Wednesday.

you might want to edit out that first emoji sierra as it is reserved only for whine and cheese/offensive for BF, just fyi~

On a second note, my tracking still shows it in Kent WA/was supposedly supposed to be there yesterday..hopefully today will bring some bloodwood ;)

I scuffed mine with some 120 sandpaper. It just scratches and dulls it, reveals no layers and really adds no texture. I sanded up to 600 and rebuffed it, good as new. In my opinion it is paper micarta.

That sucks... I have been thinking of some other mods I can add instead.

Though they will be permanent, so I am hesitant.

What about adding a 1-arm notch to the main?

You can't put your beer down even to open your knife?

I knew this but am still bummed by confirmation that it wasn't linen micarta. Then again I love the knife, just making heads or tails if I can keep two.

Great video Charlie :D

The bloodwood SFO is out of this world, Barry! Best one of the whole bunch!

As beautiful as the photos of it in the this thread look, they don't even come close to capturing the true character of the wood. The chatoyancy is so incredibly deep... just outstanding!

So true Phil; photos don't due the wood justice. We should see a bevy of beauties here soon. Any body get one that is exceptional? The ones I looked at were all nearly identical, but there should be a few with a little figure showing.

just waiting on mine to come in. USPS showed it should have been delivered Monday but its still showing the last scan in Washington...that's a looooong way from Texas.

Hopefully soon.

They're com-m-m-m-ing! I swear! :)

I'm admirin' mine while I replenish my CAS supply.

My Model 12 16 gauge that I inherited from my Paw Paw sure would like to a take a picture with the Gun Scout.
