The Beer Scout Knife

Baldy, I believe you got it.
I will be waiting a little longer for my Gun Scout. The one I received today has a crack in the wood. Barry has taken care of me though. I just have to wait for another delivery.

Ebony Beer Scout and Blackwood Lime Cutter...they play well together:cool::thumbup:

OK I admit it, I had to look up what "chatoyance" even meant - but now I know what to call it instead of "iridescent 3D-looking stuff". :)

This being my first brazilian bloodwood knife, can anyone (Barry perhaps?) tell me how it ages? For example, ebony seemingly doesn't; cocobolo darkens over time (and with oil). Will the chatoyance dissipate? Will the color or other qualities change? I'm quite enamored with the knife as-is and hope it never changes - but sometimes these things change for the better!

Finally... maintenance tips? Lemon oil or nothing?

Thanks!

Im interested in this also. I have all three of the wood versions heading my way, and id love to know what to expect.
Especially these being my first folding knives ive ever purchased!
Gotten alot as gifts, but ive never found a folding knife that truly spoke to me... until now. :D
I have some pure linseed oil I use on my other wood handles.
I would hate to ruin the finish on these.

I think a little furniture polish once in a while is all you need do, if that. Don't know about darkening, but I doubt it will darken too much. Most woods turn a little after exposure to light.

Good to know, Barry! I'm not worried either, I've never not had any knife show up from you, if I said that right. Lol, Paul, I'm diggin that lime cutter a lot! Great shots by all!:thumbup:

This just in. Medium William Henry clip case. (Medium) to fit my BeerScout perfectly. Works just the same with my 66 calf roper and TC Barlow. The large would probably be best for an all around slip joint size. You can pull on the bail or a lanyard with the pouch still clipped to your pants. (Sorry for the pj pants haha) Once it breaks in its pretty easy to remove without pulling the case out also. Or just push foreward then pinch pull back on the slippie. (If that makes sense) either way I was looking for an option to keep a pouch or sheath from moving around and turning sideways in my pocket for a single carry day.

I have a 73 in osage orange with that chatoyance look to it. One day I was carrying it while weedeating the yard. That evening that look was gone, really bad on the side that was against me.It just made me sick, well thanks to Berrys wise words I rubbed some lemon oil furniture polish on it and it is back. Thank you Berry.

Hm I really like that style of case sharpdad33, waiting on CKO to come out with his clip case, I'm just wary considering I ride a cruiser on a day to day basis and I'd be oneeeee frustrated guy if the gun scout just slipped out of the slippie case.
