The Best fake yet

It really doesn't matter in the end. The U.S can make it illegal to sell counterfeit knives If they want but that won't stop people in every other country on earth from buying them.

Wouldn't it be better to boycott counterfeit knives instead of all chinese knives, it doesn't seem right to vilify all chinese knives just because they were made in china, like spyderco for example wouldn't deserve that, they make a good product in china, and so do many others. Besides counterfeits can be made anywhere, not just china.

I wasn't aware that Spyderco made knives in China. I did know they had some made in Taiwan though (I own one, the Sage 1). Thanks for the info. Actually I had decided to boycott Chinese made knives a while back. Just a personal decision of course. If you are wondering why it is because if, and when, the day comes that we knife enthusiasts no longer have the option of buying U.S. made knives I will (at least) not have myself to blame. I know that objectively knives are just another consumer product no different from PCs and other electronics for instance. It's just that they happen to be a product that I am a bit passionate about (that's why I am on this forum I guess) and, given the current state of the US economy, I see at least some wisdom in trying to keep SOME manufacturing on our shores. Ultimately it is the consumer (and I mean that collectively) that decides this. I still have no issues with buying German/Italian/etc. products as these countries do not practice unfair trade policies such as artificially devaluing their currency. China does this. I will not dispute that China is putting out some good quality stuff though. Still, I much prefer having a U.S. made knife in my pocket I guess and all but one of the knives I own are made in the U.S. (the Sage 1 being the exception).

I guess this particular case just really bugs me because they are totally ripping off an American manufacturer and openly attempting to deceive the consumer. You want to do business with them that is your decision.

I'm betting these fakes are made in the same factories as "real spydercos" etc... I won't be buying chinese made knives ever.

No way these knives are made in the same factory. Spyderco is very careful with the selection of their manufacturers and inspects their plants frequently. They wouldn't tolerate this.

After spending the better part of the afternoon searching I have found the website that is selling these. The broken english is very humorous to say the least. They are going for $69.99 with free shipping. That is pretty darn cheap for Titanium scales even if the blade is D2.

Here is an excerpt from the page:

"this chris reeve sebenza style D2 steel 60HRC folding knife are make from the knife fans club.it is make in my country, just make hundreds pcs, the knife very nice and very very sharp ,worth you get it,thanks."

Lots of glaring differences now that I was able to see it full size. Clip, thumb stud, screws, handle chamfer, hole in lock bar, blade grind and profile just to name a few.

I spoke to Chris about this awhile back. Unfortunately there is not alot that can be done and it would cost more to fight it than what its worth.

When buying a CRK, either buy from CRK directly, a CRK authorized dealer or from someone you know or trust. Do your homework.

Yes they also make fake Nyala knives..

I know a knife maker in China who makes sebenza counterfeit. Almost the same perfection as the original if not better, in same price range also.

Instead of buying them, notify the sellers and or stores they are infringing copyrights and maybe production will stop

I won't lie, it fooled me, and I've handled them, if I were a CRK fan, it probably wouldn't have.

More proof that research can pay well.

Even in that small picture I can see a few, but one should perhaps not highlight the things they get wrong so they don't start getting them right.

The Nyala fake looks nearly perfect. Anybody notice any discrepancies on the actual knife? Even the sheath looks correct.

Dang, here is the most "real" sebenza counterfeit. This guy is not a professional knife maker according to himself. He makes knife occasionally for about $300 a piece.

I dont know this guy and don't have any of his products. Being said, I also don't against counterfeits as long as they don't pretend to be real.

Do you know him or not ? To make a claim such as this I suspect one would have to of at least handled the items you are claiming to be equal or even superior to the original.

You say you have no problems with counterfeits as long as they are not branded, well on that we differ.

Looks like I mislead you. I said "I can't tell which is better this or original from these pics."
I am aware of this knife maker by reading knife reviews and such on line. But I don't know him personally, for sure I am not his friend.
