The Best fake yet

Yes, perhaps I was misled but you also stated "Almost the same perfection as the original if not better, in same price range also" in a previous post. Any way, we starting to go round in circles now.
I remain rather unimpressed with any maker who can't be botherd to do their own work and just lives off the back of an others established and well recognised work. A very poor show indeed, especially so in my opinion given this person clearly has ability.

Looks like I mislead you. I said "I can't tell which is better this or original from these pics."
I am aware of this knife maker by reading knife reviews and such on line. But I don't know him personally, for sure I am not his friend.

A very excellent chance.

After some research these fakes do not come from the major manufacturers(SRM, Enlan, Bee). They come from someone making them in small batches I believe the companies name is MG Knives.

They have gone to great trouble to manufacture these as they also make Strider Clones which are almost perfect replicas according to Mick Strider.

Yea, they even come with something a Strider doesn't come with....

A Box

this manufacturer clearly is very skilled. If they dedicated themselves to in house designs I'd be tempted to buy one. but this is very well executed theft.

The CRK I could spot the flaws, but the Strider would have fooled me unless it felt different. It looked spot on. In fact the best way of differentiating it from the original would be the box.

I watched a YouTube video the other day of a guy showing his new EDC, a "Sebenza". He thought it was a real Sebenza that he bought or traded for on the forum. He didn't know till I told him that it was a fake. If you look for the vid you'll find it. I don't want to post the vid as the owner of the fake is a member here. I'll let him do it if he wishes.

He got fooled by one of these and even while it was delevered and holding it. He still thought it was real. So people need to be careful.

Dang, here is the most "real" sebenza counterfeit. This guy is not a professional knife maker according to himself. He makes knife occasionally for about $300 a piece.

WOW! those are crazy! they are close to fooling me. the ONLY thing that sets most of them off are the lanyard pin being different than the real sebenzas.

BUT it is NOT COOL of anybody to copy another maker's knife and pass it off and sell it as their own.

There are actually a couple differences. Like you mentioned there is the lanyard pin. On the fake it's flat and on the real it's concave. Someone might be able to put a real pin in a fake knife so I wouldn't go 100% by that. The choil where the edge starts on the real one is more laid back and has a steePer angle on the fake. The scales on the fake are thinner and one of the most noticeable differences is that the fake has a small hole on the lockbar where the detent ball is.

While we should always be on the look out for fakes, and each other as knife people. I personally see it as a bad idea to highlight what the fakers get wrong. We really don't need to go around pointing out what they need to work harder on.......

While initially a concern of mine, I dont think it is a practical one. I'm sure the counterfeiters have original sebenzas and Striders to copy from, the reason there are differences is because of either the cost of machining something exactly the same or cost of materials. I'm sure if the counterfeiters wanted and had the budget they could make a 1:1 replica.

It benefits the community to have a guideline on how to recognize fakes, many companies like emerson even offer the guideline themselves.

The reason they don't make a 1:1 replica is because they don't have the set up and tooling that CRK do. They are improving it all the time though, we have all see the evolution of these knives over the last few years. As a custom knife maker I can tell you it's not easy to make a knife exactly the same as the other, even when you have it in hand. They will never make an exact copy with out raiding the CRK factory for machining stations, but they will be able to get as close as one can. Having the benefit of several different eyes to pick out flaws is used by many industries. One person sees what another does not. Why would the counterfeit industry be any different ? As for Emerson he has made bad decisions before, that is just another one to add to the list IMO.
