Thanks for all the kind words everyone!!! As I carry this one through the end of the year, I'll bet the "ghostly" Bison etch will disappear pretty quickly!!View attachment 3035961
Charlie they still look great! Just remind our friend in Oregon to not forget about meYou all are probably wondering what happened to the Bison Belly!!!??? It is a bit of a tale, but I am happy to say, they are being shipped out tomorrow,
To your favorite dealer!! Here is the story behind the delay!!!
As you all know, Bill is a stickler for detail, and produces the best factory knives on the planet!! A cosmetic flaw turned up on virtually every knife, not seen until final finishing/polishing!! Oh Brother!!!
Bill sent me pictures, and while minimal, when I saw the blemish, I came very close to refusing the lot, with no replacement in sight!! We all want perfect GECs!!!
Bill sent me actual knives to view, and I had to agree that most gaps were "very minimal" to "minimal"!! After discussing it, and going back and forth with dealers, and Bill, and my wife(!!!), I decided to accept them and offer them!! They should come through a little less expensive than other GECs, and at least make very good using knives!!! The Ebony in some cases has silver grey streaks under strong light, and frankly I love the darn knife!!
The blemish is under the end of a bottom bolster - a slight gap - most too small for a cigarette paper!!
The whole run is marked "C" for cosmetic blemish!!! Most of you won't notice or care, but at least the knife is fully functional!!! Please don't ask for a knife to be "selected" - I am asking that they all get sent at random!! A big deal about a small thing, but I feel good about shipping them to you all!!View attachment 3035517View attachment 3035518View attachment 3035519View attachment 3035520
Here is my pic of the subject bolster!!View attachment 3035522
The gap only extends a small distance under one pile bolster!!
Sorry for the delay, and the "Wabi-Sabi" offering!! But I will carry this knife through Christmas, and open all presents as needed!!!!

I'll have to tell Bill about that one!!โCโ for โCโosmetic. Or โCโ for โCโharlie!!! Classic and beautiful as always! Thanks Charlie!
You just have to convince Bill!! I've agonized for weeks over that darn thing!! (It is a subtle issue though)!!I am surprised they managed to produce the whole lot before noticing the issue, unless there was some unexpected shrinkage (or something similar) after they were finished.
Bill Owes Charlie a new and improved SFO very soon, I think![]()

Ya I don't find it that big of a deal, now if the blade was put in upside down I may take issue with it.but than again that may start a trend amongst the lesser educated. Those are looking great, Charlie! That minuscule flaw on the bolster is nothing for concern in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing one in person.
The attention to detail and concern you both show in producing a quality product is highly commendable and shows true character. You all are probably wondering what happened to the Bison Belly!!!??? It is a bit of a tale, but I am happy to say, they are being shipped out tomorrow,

Hope you get one!!!Iโm honestly very thankful for the imperfections as it moves this one into the โmaybe I can get oneโ category. They came out wonderfully, even if less than perfect. Great looking knife![]()
