The BK16 They Told You Did't Exist!!

So, who wants to trade their ever so slightly used Sabre ground BK16 with new coating, for a ever so slightly used FFG BK16 w/old coating ??????????? Seriously, who ????? Cause i have an ever so slightly used FFG w/old coating to trade.

twin, I think your chances of scoring one of those in this forum are slim to none. Slimmer after this thread, lol.

na, every member will score one of these soon, and I'm gonna hit the powerball on the next try :D

Ka bar really should start making those bk16's both ways. I think it's 50/50 on what folks like and I gotta believe they would sell.

Thought you all would like to see Luke's video of the BK16 Unicorn.

That thing is also a little thicker than normal.

Well, I see several would like to have a sabre grind BK-16, but all I have access to are BK-16 First Production Ethan Becker Signature models, with stamped logos, and laser engraved signature and "First Production Run".. Probably not as desirable as the OP's, but atleast they're sabre ground.

There were a few of those around SHOT Show, 2012.

I know I passed a few off to some folks at the end of the show.......

And maybe one made it in my luggage......

And then there is the secret stash located North of Tennessee, South of Canada.......

I dig the saber over the ffg as well. More lateral strength for used with a baton and once a convex is added, they cut like a laser. So, why are these so desirable versus the SMKW saber grinds? Aren't the 1st production sabers still in stock? I guess the coating isn't a big deal for me since it gets stripped anyway. The sig comes off quiet easily.

while i'm sure the "strength is measurable" might be true, it's lost after the 20th decimal with a knife like this...

the designers even admit that "really, it's insignificant in real life"...

by the time you heavily convex one anyway, you've got a FFG? :>

shrug

most people don't want the SMKW model because of the signature, and the price? i seem to recall they are asking a premium?

It's $10 more then the average price of an FFG. I don't believe that my ffg will break from a baton but mass is mass so more metal usually equals more strength. That being said, I'm sure that they know best, they made it. Like my post stated, "I dig the saber grind over the ffg". Not saying that one is better then the other, I own both.

BTW, the one in the pic has a convex with no secondary bevel and the only metal taken off of the shoulders was from the etch. Far from an FFG :D

A better pic

If that's your knife in the pic wooly that is a absolutely beautiful knife. The patina and the scales "just work" they mesh together so nicely. Im going to have to give mine a make over, mine is butt Alpha Sierra Sierra ugly in comparison.
