I wondered if anyone has had any problems with ordering from this site? Have you had any GOOD encounters?

I ordered a $132 BM knife from them last week. The order was placed 1 week ago today (Friday 2/24 today is 3/3).
Their site stated that they updated the orders for customer to track. That it stays under "NEW ORDER" until it is processed, etc. Then ships out within 24-48 hours. I have been tracking it everyday. 2 days ago, since their site still listed it as being a "new order" I sent them a polite e-mail inquiring about my order #. Now 2 business days later, my order is still listed as being "new". They have not responded to my original e-mail and, oh yeah, did I mention that they debited my account for the money on the immediate day after I placed the order? :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

I'm getting really pissed off. I just sent them a nasty e-mail asking if anyone was working there and since at least the person who takes the money is working, if they could find that person and ask them to put my little box in the mail. :grumpy: :grumpy:

Now I'm getting concerned. I thought The Blade Shop was a legitimate place. I've always read good things, but have never ordered there.
Has anyone out there had any dealings, good or bad, with this site? Is this normal? Should I be worried? Suggestions for what I should do next?

I'm pissed. :grumpy:

Apparently problems abound with these guys

There was just a BIG thread on them, maybe a week or so ago.
Check the search function, you'll find the thread ... maybe you don't
want to read it. Some real funny stuff going on, and I don't mean humorous.

I did a search but couldn't come up with anything. A blank page in fact. I typed in "The Blade Shop".

Yeah I couldnt get anything either just a blank, but I can tell you that my experience with them kinda sucked ! I ordered a Spyderco native from them in plain blade and when it arrived it was in a spyderco box marked plain blade but when I opened it was the fully serrated edge version . I didnt even bother to return it and it isn't that big of a deal to me but it is weird.

Also, when you do a search, never include the word the. Can you imagine how many times that word has been used on this forum?

Ah..... ok, thanks. Sorry about that.

Are banks usually pretty good about reversing charges?

Long story short:

I don't know if I could recommend the Bladeshop to my worst enemy . . .
Absolutely awful.

And don't get all hopeful if you get an e-mail that says something to this effect.

I am researching the status of your order. I will email you back with updated information today.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
If I can be of further assistance, please email me.
We appreciate your business.

So I'm guessing this is a pretty common response. Now I'm going to have to wait about 3 months for this knife to show up if it shows up at all. I'm calling my bank on Monday to see if they can reverse the charges.

Do that. Otherwise, these people can stall you and then send the wrong knife and then, and then something else, and by the time you get around to it, the bank wants to know why you didn't reverse the deal right away.

You should really have no concern about your bank reversing the charge.
You paid for goods not received, and you even have email proof from the
merchant that they were not received!! Moreover, the merchant failed to offer a date certain for delivery.

And that's good advice too from Esav!

In fact, your bank should have a 24 hour call line, phone number on the back of your card.

thanks for helping out guys.

I went in and talked to the bank this morning and they're going to credit my account back and go to battle with this asshole. It's good to have a good bank to cover your ass.
I just bought at wildeals.com and am very impressed.

Good idea.

www.1sks.com
www.knifeworks.com
www.newgraham.com
www.knifecenter.com
www.knifeoutlet.com

These are a few of the consistently competitive and reliable dealers available. It's always good to add to the list. There are good new businesses opening up constantly, but you have to be careful at the first sign that they aren't providing good service.

Hey Esav,

Thanks for the great links! I already have so many of your posts archived I had to start a folder just for them.

You are a font of knife related knowledge.

Shalom,
Andy K

I would definitely add gpknives.com to the list of good vendors.

They have been flawless and personally attentive. Items shipped same day or next business day if I ordered late at night.
