The blade Shop

I read this thread with extreme interest the other day I need a few Spyderco SALTS for my business & employees. So, not knowing a thing about either company past what I was reading I decided to do a "consumer test". :D

This "test" was not based on past preformance or future dreams. It was based on one order placed on one day with each company.

My "results" can be seen by cliclking on the thread links posted below.

IF you have had past difficulties with either... this is not to diminish any of that.... I hope you get it resolved...

What I have posted was my experience.........

The Blade Shop .....http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=531539

DefenseKnife.com ...... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5310149#post5310149

Thanks for giving us a chance Teacher. And thanks for taking the time to post the positive experience.
No problem. I was just gonna post it like it was, no matter what it was.

What I posted is exactly what it was on this order.......

Of course I will expect a DEEP discount next time I order....... :D

Teacher,
It was really a pleasure. You're one special customer and I really like your enthusiasm.

There's every reason to believe that you are going to get what you ordered from both companies. But just to be sure, I'm going to wait until you have received your order from us and it's exactly what you want it to be. As soon as you let me know that everything you got is the way you want it, I'm going to give you great feedback. (If it's not I'll make it right first and then when it's right I'll give you great feedback ;))

Thanks,

.....................so feel free to knock yourself out...:D

As far as what I posted.... I'll give you the same response as given above.
Whatever you got..... you earned. The below applies to you also.....

But on the off-chance that I do give you a DEEP discount please don't post it so visibly here or anywhere else, because otherwise I'll have EVERYONE asking for DEEP discounts ;)

I am new to the forum and I found this thread very interesting. Not certain on the cheap shots back and forth from Eddie and Dave, but interesting never the less. Then comes along an order to both merchants. Both merchants fill the order and all of sudden praise and accolades start flying back and forth. Let’s recap. Customer makes purchase, merchant ships product, and customer receives product. Isn’t that the way it suppose to work. I wonder if Wal-Mart or any other merchant expects this much praise for completing such a simple task? Maybe I am missing something, and it is a lot harder to ship a few knives than one may believe?

Good job Teacher! I think that was very helpful. :)
Thank you sir....... I found it interesting to say the least.

I was gonna get the knives somewhere anyway cause we were gonna need them soon in my business... so, IMO....this presented a perfect opportunity to at least test one order on one day .... .......

LOL...... my momma didn't raise no fool..... ;) .... should I ever be fortunate enough for that happen....... no matter who, what, or where.

I know when to keep my mouth shut tight..........

Well hello, and welcome to the forum.........;)

What's your point ?

This was to see on this one order if anybody was going to drop the ball..... nobody did. So that is what was reported back.. ???

Maybe you have a better ideal..... I am all ears myself......

That's pretty much how it should work and how it usually works IMHO. This forum is to highlight those times where it doesn't happen. The Blade Shop has had some problems and is working to fix them. Teacher's test was a nice, if unscientific, attempt to allow the The Blade Shop, because they've had problems and Defense Knife because they were part of the thread, to prove they are worth our business. At this point, I don't know if there's much else to say... Dave, thanks for your viewpoint. Eddie, you have a golden opportunity to continue to improve. I thank you both, and Teacher too.

In the interest of keeping things fair, I should mention that I ordered from Thebladeshop a couple of times over the last six months and my orders were correct and shipped in a timely fashion. I didn't really want to get caught up in this thread because I'm not really about taking sides in these matters where both parties have valid points, but I felt that if we are all reading about the bad it's only right that we hear about the good as well.

Best of luck to both shops.

This thread was also very interesting and informative to me because I'm in the process of opening up my own cutlery shop and really want to do it right.

Cheers,
Jon

Best of luck to you too Jon, there's enough business for everyone and if you do it right all else will follow...

I recently ordered a knife from the Blade Shop as a birthday gift for my (college aged) son. Shortly thereafter I was informed it was backordered and could not arrive on time. I cancelled the order, but found that the Blade Shop charges your credit card immediately (upon ordering) rather than when the knife is shipped (like most web sites do). It is now 13 business days since I cancelled the order, and a credit has not yet appeared on my card. I take it up tomorrow with my credit card company.

Furthermore, I have called about two knives since then that are shown as available on the web page, but that were not in fact in stock.

I think a company that apparently maintains so little stock on hand has no business charging customers immediately. It raises suspicions, to say the least.

I would advise NEVER to order from this company without calling to check on stock first. Even so, I think they should change their billing policy to not billing until the time of shipment.

Hello Grego,
You will find many complaints on these forums about our service a year ago, and rightfully so. We have corrected these issues (we were understaffed and did not provide very good customer service). I now have 4 times the employees working for me that I had this time last year and I am happy to say this Christmas season went very smoothly.

Also, most of the knives on the site are in stock, but just to be sure, please feel free to give us a call 877-291-1328 M-F 10am 6PM EST and we can check and makre sure its in stock for you.

If you have any other questions or concearns please let me know.

My name is Eddie, and I am the owner.

Thanks.

Eddie, you are a thief. Instead of hiding behind Elizabeth and those nice ladies answering the phones, why don't you pick up the phone yourself and hear the voice of some very angry customers.

Well, I wish I would have ready all of these reviews before I ordered a knife roughly one month ago. It was for my brother's birthday, which has passed now. I have the same experience as everyone else... took my money and has given me no product. I tried to cancel my order online and it right underneath where it still says BACKORDERED, it also says I can't change my order because it's in the final stages... which it's said for quite some time now. I feel like I've been taken advantage of... stolen from. And it's sad because I don't have alot of money... just wanted to give my brother something nice for his birthday.

Eddie, WTF? Either ship my knife or let me have my money back. It's not too much to ask for.

I have an ongoing dispute with Bladeshop right now. Ordered a knife on 8/25. my cc was charged immediately. no emails or anything. a week later still no knife. I email asking where it is. a day later they respond saying that the knife was backordered and I should have gotten an email to that effect, which I didn't. I replied to cancel my order and refund my money. 2 days later I get an email saying it will take 14 business days to refund to my cc. still nothing, and when I email them I get no response. I opened up a dispute with my cc company so I'm sure I will EVENTUALLY get my money back, I also filed a complaint with the federal trade commission. I urge anyone who has had a similar expirience to do the same. it only takes about 5 min. online.
DON'T BUY FROM BLADESHOP!!! THEY ARE CROOKS!!
