The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

Thumbing through a compendium of Australian poetry from the olden days I came across this stanza...part of a lost saga attributed to John "Ukelele" McGinty...The Man From Dribbly Creek...

"There was movement at the station
and disquiet about the font.
The Bunny knife from GEC had plain writing
Etch'd ...upon't.😝
On the Porch they took their numbers
and some would be
scratched bare.
But the flippers went home hungry.
Without a prize to share."

I'm planning to stick mine into a potato for a day or two to start a solid patina, what is this etch that you speak of?!
Once it's in the potato, don't forget to kick it across a parking lot to complete the process!
