The BladeForums 2022 Traditional Knife Thread

For those interested, Mike in the UK has, for the past few years, stopped putting up any GEC knives on his website and just advertises them on Instagram. "Last updated: 05/03/21" he says on his site, which I think is optimistic.

So, unless you are "following" him and have the inside information on drops you cannot get anything new from him. A few years ago the whole situation was a lot better, but these days are no longer. The knives sell themselves, so no major advertising etc. effort is needed.
Also, for EU buyers, you have to pay import tax if buying from the UK.
He has to wait to find out how much he is stung for charges after bringing them into the country before he knows the price as well.
Its not his only job.

Every so often when I remember I give him a call to see what he has.
He had Pony Jacks and white owls at very reasonable prices at the show in England.

It’s a monumental thing to build inspect serialize pack and label up this many knives at one time.
I think we need to continue to make sure this doesn’t get lost in our excitement. The logistic of even popping 500 tubes, unwrapping and rewrapping 500 sheets of waxpaper, sorting by name/number, 500 boxes, 500 labels, 500+ pieces of tape, even mailing 500 packages and managing receipts. This is a monumental uptake that we must not forget is being undertook. Logistically speaking I don’t even own enough counter space in my house to sort and manage this many boxes. Let alone navigate the transportation logistics to the post office. To many it’s a cool knife that represents a great community, but it’s far more than that when you consider what it takes to get into our hands.

Happy to see this tradition carried on. Missed out because of a special mission that has kept me out of here the past four weeks. Bad timing - that's life. No biggie. I have too many knives anyway (who doesn't?). However if anyone decides they want to sell theirs for a hefty profit, I'll be your huckleberry. Everyone else . . . Congrats and enjoy! I'll really be looking forward to pictures, reviews and comments!

dont worry, the rest of the unclaimed will still be sold at that time of release.

I have been able to follow this thread only intermittently, and have missed quite a bit. Discussion has turned to packing and shipping. I do not recall that anybody has asked for my shipping details. Is that premature, or have I missed something?

Very true,it must seem daunting at times to those who have kindly taken on the responsibility.
