The Buck you want most of all......

When I first started all I wanted was mint, all box/papers,investment grade Bucks....But I would have to pass up way too many nice collectable 112's.Well to heck with the box! They take up to much room.I dont even care about the sheath unless its rare/odd in its own right.Iv'e come to love 'repair' Bucks,'Franken' Bucks, one of a kind Leroy [rrr] peices, along with other custom artistes who work with Bucks..My fav 112 from Buck is "Buckwood" 1 of 6 made. I do want the silver one [1 of 3] or a real honest to God prototype of the 112.....There must be 2 or 3 still exesting....

I want and would hope my coastal living Buck brothers would watch for me one, of only a hundred or so made, America's Cup, white scale 315 Yachtsman. (Ted Turner era win). They have sailing ship and Old Glory printed on side. In 10 years of watching Bay like a hawk I saw one in 2000. At that time I was only mildly knife accumlating...big mistake........If I could have two trips of one day each to go back in a time machine, I would pick one day fishing with my dad and the other to buy that knife......of course I would tell my dad to sell everything even the fishin' boat and buy Dell and Walmart stock, .....so now I would be rich enough to win Bay auctions on my knife model of choice......300Bucks

300, I made note and I am on the lookout for ya bud. I seem to be everywhere looking for little Buck Slippies these days. What Fun and it gets me off my PhatAzz!!! LOL!!! If it were possible to go back into time I personally would pass. I would not want to do one tiny thing that might change where I am at with my Family / Friends/ Job or Hobbies!!! I am a pretty Happy Dude all things Considered!!! Thank Goodness!!! ~k~

...Here's one of my NS 112 Hybrids that found a new home 3 weeks ago...That 112 sure takes well to the drop points...

Wow.

You are so right. I don't like the look of the drop point on the 110.....just doesn't look right.....Maybe ok, but nothing special.

But on the 112, it looks GREAT!

The Buck I'd most like to have is a stag or elk handled 120 in 440C.

I suppose I should start looking harder......I know it's around.

*Which* 110 drop point??? The BCCI Sambar Stag drop point???

You should know that the BCCI drop point blade was not the one that was shown here and in the Newsletter, for ordering purposes...I had a photo of that "prototype" on my PhotoBucket account, I'm not sure what happened to it...Let me see if I can find it...

It was pretty close to the 426 drop point profile; which, as I keep beating the dead horse about, was why I liked it...

ARGH!!! I can't find the pics...but here's a pic of my Micarta 110 with a 426 drop point blade...

...I think these are the pics you're referring to Trax...I like this profile as well as I do the one on the 112....Note the nicely ground finger grooves as well.....

Click the thumbs maybe twice

Yep; that's them...here's some of the text from the announcement thread...Interesting point about the blade...(pun intended)... ;)

chickentrax

I'd like to see that blade added to the 110 Custom Shoppe options...If what Vern Taylor said in his post about 426 Bucklite blades being re-ground 110 blades, it wouldn't be all that difficult to do...in all the available steels...

Buckcustom - what is the word on blade or tang markings??? Etching on the blade???

Larry Oden

Chickentrax,
I will answer for John. The blade will not be etched and it will have a satin finish. As to the tang stamp, we will have to wait and see. It may have a Buck / Custom / U.S.A. stamp or it may be stamped BUCK / Idaho outline 110 / U.S.A. I would expect it to be stamped on the reverse side with the Bos logo /s30v / U.S.A.
I hope this helps.
By the way, the prototype has an old four dot 110 blade in it. John showed the reverse side of the knife to allow everybody to see how the knife would look sans nail nick since the knife will not have a nail nick.

Here's the announcement thread...If you notice (I found the pics John emailed me!), DarrylS "flipped" the open pic...and he mentions it... :D

...I still find it real hard to see that that the blades on the original 426's were ground from regular 110 clips...I have an original 426 in my hand right now and still can't picture it...

...Here's one of the "original" drop point 426's with the subsequent "original" clip point version...

The distance from the nail nic to the spine throws me, I'm guessing the nail nics were added after the blade was ground

...That's what I keep seeing too Scott...Just no way to fit that radius in there and keep the nic where it's at...but that blade profile is what a lot of us originally thought was gonna be in the BCCI 110 fundraiser knife...

Referring to the BCCI prototype...It's not a "regular" 110 clip...It's a Four dot clip...The blade profile isn't the same as the newer "symbol" blades...I don't have an older one that hasn't been sharpened all to crap...So I can't directly compare them...But maybe the people at Buck who made up that prototype had an unsharpened/unground four dot blade that was wider than the finished blade...

...I'll bet that's it Trax...Those blanks leave tons of stock for grinding that profile...

Ok........your Micarta drop point 110 is the first 110 I've seen with a drop point that I like. Great shape, great flow.

I think that BCCI 110 drop point is "not pretty".....simply does not have the lines that your knife does.

I have to add that the one shown above in stag looks better than other pictures I've seen and is looking better as I get used to it......so maybe I've seen the wrong pictures or I'm just getting used to it.

I like the Micarta knife best, though.......does somebody sell those?

A 330 set (matching 312 and 314 numbered with ironwood scales in a presentation box). I have only seen this once and it was beautiful but I got beat on the bay.
