The Busse suggestion box.

The grind angle is fine on the rest of the blade - its just the first few inches near the tip that are affected - starting about where the blade curves to the tip....

-Harry

+ A whole bunch!!

Harry, I know exactly what you mean, and a lopsided/uneven grind makes my ass pucker right up:grumpy:. Infact, I went so far as to request the shop to pay special attention to the tip grind on my LEs. (Now that you all now me about me than you care:eek:) What can I say, it's just one of my personal quirks, and for a $600 knife I think I paid for that right. I really hope they come in looking good, but I find myself nervous for their arrival just because for that. I really DO NOT want to send them back, but I sure as hell will if they look wonky.

:o Normally I'm a pretty zen guy and tend to "go with the flow" as the universe has a way of working itself out(no hippie mumbo-jumbo, just experience), and I usually don't get too fired up about many things, but boy howdy, you hit my sweet spot brother.

I received a FBMLE that way and sold it before it even warmed up in my hand...

It has come up before. Infi crash axe type stuff, sure, but I doubt you will see a true axe head made from infi, as they are generally drop forged and that isn't exactly busse's forte. Could you imagine grinding an axe head through stock removal?

I also think infi arrives as bar stock, and isn't thick enough for a normal axe head.

Now one of those funky hatchet / knife combo survival type blades would be interesting - you know the ones, where you can lash them to a split sapling to make a hatchet in the field. The name is escaping me at the moment...

Very true MM, I got excited about an INFI axe head, and I didn't stop to think about the manufacturing process:foot::o. I'd still be kewl

I'd like to see only a tiny sharpening choil on small to mid sized blades and also have the edge as close to the index finger as possible.

Thinner knives.

Bring back the SHBA, thinner and with a sharpening choil or no choil.

Really would love to see the release of promised and hinted designs. Folder, muks, etc.. A re-release of the BA III and a production run of ST Rippers would be cool too.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

A full sized Muck would rock. I would really like to see one with a really tall blade from edge to spine (think Koster's awesome monster Nessie in INFI).

A bit thinner, nothing over 1/4 inch so it is reasonable for kitchen use, and still makes an awesome field chopper (some one did a review, and the Monster Koster Nessie outchopped everything he put it up against, including the FFBM, because the Nessie had such a tall blade). But it was made of 5160, and ground a bit too thin, so it lost a huge chip. Infi, and solved!

Also, folder anyone?

hey, the asymmetric grind is back (snicker) ;)

send that thing in and let 'em do their thing on it. i

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

The way Busse does business is the strongest reason (next to the quality steel, great knives, & top notch customer service, of course) that got me hooked. I like the one or two models offered at a time, the Ganza's, the BCS for quick fixes, the consideration for both the Busse users & collectors... And this most excellent Forum. Keep on rockin', Jerry, Garth & Amy!

...But as you certainly know... Implementing various new ideas, tweaking the product and striving for improvement is always a good thing, so I offer these few suggestions for your consideration...

I'm another one that would like to see options on the choil. I must say that I prefer having one on almost any size knife, but it would be cool if I could have one just big enough on smaller models to fit a finger there, i.e. "usable choil" like on the BAIII/ABA models for smaller Busse's. The choils on bigger knives are great sized for even gloved fingers IMO, but many don't like having them at all, which is why I suggest introducing options, like maybe these 3: No (or sharpening sized) choil, Finger choil, or Original choil on models with pix on the website to show the difference as new models are offered. Just a thought.

I'd like to see even more improvement on the sharpness of the knife edges. I think that 2009 saw a marked improvement in this area, but there's always room for more as a great edge is almost an art form in itself. You guys certainly are rockin' the convex edge, which is awesome and I'd love to see the models with a v-edge come closer to being that sharp also. :)

New color choices on linen/canvas micarta handles... This might not be so easy as you may be limited to companies who can make large sheets and in large quantities, but I'd love to see black linen, blue linen (not overpowering blue, but something like denim), a reverse Tigerhide linen (more black than orange but with orange still clearly visible in the mix) and some other new colors as well as the return of high contrast 'old school' green linen and if, God willing, the 'mistake' can ever be replicated...the elusive Snakeskin micarta. G-10 is great stuff with lots of color choices and I'd probably still choose to collect a few of each model with optional G-10, but I prefer micarta on Busse's that I select to use, so I'd love to have a few more color choices in micarta if this is possible.

I'd also like to see the return of threads started from the Busse Crew on INFI, Busse knife maintenance and correct profiling & sharpening, and even tips on proper usage... As no one knows more about using & keeping Busse's in great shape than the Crew. JMO!

As for knives...
I'd love to see more Competition Finish knife models. Rough satin finish with canvas micarta, infi dimples, the whole 9 yards... Kinda like the new Basic line in that they are designed for use and are reasonably priced. The only difference that I humbly ask for is the complete removal of the decarb layer on any newer CF offerings. :)

Also, I'm hoping for the continuation of the SAR line. Those are great knives, and I'd love to see a 3-4 inch, a 5-6 inch and/or a 6-7 inch version to round out the set... And if you're feeling bold... a 10-11 inch monster SAR :D:thumbup:

And... the SHBALE and the Folder! (Sorry, I couldn't help it! ;))

...Just some ideas for y'all to consider for the future... But the main thing is this:
Please keep on amazing us with those high quality knives, great designs & the fantastic customer service!!!

You don't want much do you. LOL :D

I agree with a lot of it.

Thanks, Jaxx for the SAR inputs and wants. I got jumped on for wanting a 6.75" SAR. The suggestion was a NOe, That's a totally different knife. The blade is totaly different. The SAR handle is for me almost puuurfection. Please "BOSS" make us SAR nuts happy.

there was at least one forged infi peice from a while ago, and you could theoretically take a .410 bar stock, fold it over and create a standard axe head. you'd have to get proper fusion at the seam though, and I'm not sure what that would do to infi.

I am with Jaxx on the CE models and Cpl P on the CBT .... and I am hopeful this one might make it through to Jerry's sub-concious as I know he likes the design "best" as well .... I would love to see a Jackhammer CE done in the same dimensions as a RMD ... so "as is" but proportionately smaller ....

Love the looks .... but smaller would make it a lot more useable for me .... a TAC Vest sized fighter/bushcrafter/do it all ...
