I think I posted one on FB. It's certainly a lot more thought involved then I expected. Gotta take it slow with every decision. Even then it's early and ugly :)

D we're suffering from a pic/WIP drought. Whatchu got that's sharp!? :)

Yo! Yes, involved to say the very least. The other day I spent 4 hours doing pivot holes/counterbores on two knives. I went back and though hard on what took so long... No clue as it all went smooth but even after about 50 locking folders each one surprises me with the time involved. Good taking it slow because it does go faster that way.

But hey... those designs look great and well executed. Respect!

Mo pics son! I have had the biggest run of small technical difficulties known to man on the pics here... finally figure out how to trnsfer my edited phone pics here and for some reason none of my recent ones would upload. I'm back on it in a small way with the frickie pics so look out for more soon!

My shop is a mess! I find myself going all over when working on the smallest things. I was out there for 2.5 hours last night and I got 4 holes drilled and a backspacer profiled. Yikes!

I also broke a tap in damascus. The next hurdle is figuring out how to get that out, lol.

D, more pictures! That profile on the mega is absolutely stunning! it looks like a mean dragons face!

Hey D, if I'm looking for a tapmatic down the line, which model should I keep an eye out for?

461 mill operations and tool changes later... right! Folders..

I'm really not sure on the broken tap in dammy, please let me know what to do if you find out. If it is a hss tap you might be able to drill it out with a carbide bit.

Thirty X [broken keyboard... lol] I think the TC/DC is good too IIRC. Also check out Taco, I think MSC makes them. Be sure to get the right collet/etc... I have mine permanently installed in a modded drill press but a collet/mill works just as good or better.

Thread forming taps on Ti! Moly-dee to make your shop smell good. :rolleyes:
 
On the tapmatic you want to tap the smaller stuff... zero to eight thirty two... remember that the tapper will do one size smaller thread forming taps than it says it is rated for as it is harder on the machine to tap Ti... IE the unit that will do up to eight-thirty two will have a really tough time doing that size in Ti so stick with 6-32 or under. {random tip but took me a while to know}
 
Porta band somewhat set up, blades ordered, More aircraft Aluminum ordered for making router table/bandsaw table, Mega RF2 scales anodized/finished after a lot of experimenting and are looking stellar, Mega blade etched and stonewashed, ano setup in shop not kitchen and looking good/working well, tapmatic breaking much $$$ on taps with new tiny backspacer and idea for better tapping in the works... more stuff I forget...

but seriously...

I made some stamps from W1 rod a ways back... they were fun and I got to use them today on a bracelet I made. I also used my drill press and grinder to make a band saw table. Ironically I will use the band saw to complete the band saw table when my blades show up.

The HF bandsaw seems great so far, it will literally move at a crawl and strongly which seems nice.


Knives too! I've been at the mill most of the day doing tooling changes... making some knives along the way too. :D I'm also making china hat domed Ti pins from scratch for the frickies.

Just got home from Olive Garden, I generally don't like the place but they have some blended alcoholic drinks the wife and her sister like so I took them there. I'm stuffed and the wife is happy.

I worked at Olive Garden way back in the day as a server and saute cook... I still have nightmares that I am working there. Nothing really bad happens in the dream, I'm just waiting tables at OG and then wake up in absolute horror. It's actually pretty disturbing!

Snow! ouch! We got the first non-snow precipitation of the year... been raining hard here! I'm glad because w still have 4-5' tall ice banks next to my house and they are finally melting quickly.


Knives! I've already ground 2 blades and cleaned up the shop... it's getting seriously organized! :D I did some crazy fine filework on a backspacer... just wait!
