Hey guys!

No new knives but I handled a Benchmade with Axis lock yesterday.. I forget the model but must say the mechanism was excellent.

Hi Gang!
Hi Daniel! You need one Axis folder. I got a Stryker for just that reason. I like a lock that just will not wear out.

Agree - I've got two axis lock knives, both Osborne designs (Emissary and 940), and they are really slick. I'm also a fan of Spyderco's compression lock. Fun to have something to mix up the liner locks and lockbacks.

I agree, that keeps it fun. I'm still hoping to make my button lock one day and do plan on making some leaf locks as soon as possible

I have to get some projects done and sold... I must get one of these!!!

Hey I have projects to send to you soon! :D Thanks for the kind words

I forgot about the button lock! I've got one of those as well. And a few random traditionals with pin locks or other tang/spine closures.

I don't think I've seen a leaf lock. Is there a prototypical model to check out?

On the leaf lock I may be using incorrect terminology... technically I'd guess it is a liner lock but instead of a liner/scales it has a milled recess in the frame and removable lock bar inside the recess. I'd make mine from all carbon fiber with a replaceable Ti lockbar.

Morning y'all!

The leaf lock sounds interesting, I guess securing the leaf to the scale had better be very secure so it doesn't develop lock rock, but I know you wouldn't under engineer such a knife!

You keep making me want to get some folding knives again, I got rid of nearly all my modern folders except for one (Kershaw Skyline) but that all time nakago is dope!

Got my one year review today, doesn't even feel like it's been a year already! Still liking the job too!

Make it great!

^ edited in attempt to clarify! lol Nested lock is another name

I've almost made one a few times recently and held off.. I'd need to mill a lot of CF in order to make one and want to get more than just a shop vac for dust control. My mill is in the "clean" side of the shop and I have all of my electronics in there now

I did get a hanging air filter for the shop, that will help on the clean room quite a lot. I wear the full face respirator when I work on and for a time after but the dust accumulates everywhere. lol I'm psyched about the air cleaner!

Band saw blades are in! I will finally have a band saw after 5 years of winging it!

I have a new Nakago fricky ready in blue/bronze one off configuration Need pics! The latest one is incredible, my pics do it no justice. I started up more yesterday for a stonewashed run, they should be priced at around $25o each.

Everybody have a great day!

Congrats on one year! I saw that pic you posted, cool stuff.

Folders will be on for me this year, I have been spending an incredible amount of time in the shop revamping everything and they are going very well Look out! :D

I agree on the leaf lock, it must be completely secure. I've got some pretty cool ideas on that. :D As a side note Shirogorov makes some cf knives that are incredible...

Thanks on the Nakago too! It has been a long time in the making and it's just too fun making them come together.

ZSounds like BBK knives style... I have 4 of them and I think they are all this "nested lock" style you are referring too... Maybe I can get pictures of the actual lock and inset part we are discussing..

more ocffee!

Yes, nested lock bar.
Bob T. mentions this lock in his knife book. Walter Wells uses it too. I love it.

Yaarrrrrgghhh! Rum and coke tonight!

Kevin, congrats to your sister in law for making you an uncle again! He's a cute little bugger! Don't let the wife spend too much time around him, she'll be bugging you, lol! Believe me, mine just went to a baby shower last weekend, she won't let it go...

Hope y'all making it great!

Yo!!!!!!!!!!!

Bandsaw table is complete! I'm going to weld up a stabilizer bracket for the saw but it is pretty good to go right now! I strapped it down as I just did not like the idea of having the entire weight on 2 screws.

I have most of the drilling operations done on the friction folder run. I ordered more tooling last night and am at a brief stop until I get some stuff in. Time for Backpackers and more!

extra curricular knife stuff!

Nakago! ...cut some Zirc scales on the new saw, milled a clip and frame for insets/bolster action!
