Man am I beat! Took the mini mill apart tonight. Took two hours to clean just the table and bottom part! It shipped in an awful state from HF with this tacky gross grease smeared all over. Cleaned it up all shiny, then got it coated with white lithium. It's together again and much smoother. Also, that infernal screeching is gone yay!

I managed to get a half day off today, and Mrs. fromMT is out of town with the kiddo - translation: 6 hours straight of nothing but screwing around in the shop. Working on a little project for a dude's necker knife putting a cool little handle on it for him.

Now... about one finger into two fingers of Glenlivet. Mellow!
 
Man, today sucked. My back is still killing me and right as I walked out of work the wife calls to tell me she was rear-ended pretty bad. The other car is pretty bad too, busted radiator and she just drove away (after exchanging insurance info at least) and is likely going to seize up that engine. I think one of the motor mounts and exhaust headers got busted on the wife's car too.

The craziest part, the other lady actually said "I'm glad my kid was in his car seat this time..." like wtf?! People actually are that cavalier about their children's safety?! My boy was with her, he's 6 and small for his age so he still rides in one of the full car seats. Glad he was. They're both ok, wife is a little shaken up, but no worse for the wear.

Ugh, just trying to relax now.

glad everyone is relatively OK, sucks about the car, though. Went through the same thing back in February and it's a pain. Hope you can relax and, again, glad everyone is ok.

88F today! Woooo warm weather finally! I swear it rained every day for the past month it seems.

Thatta boy! I should start tackling this Deathwish coffee I have at home before it goes bad. Just keep the doc on standby!

Prepping for the holiday weekend! Lots of family and friends over Saturday/Sunday/Monday and a ton of grilling. I need to stock up on beer!

My one year old Amber heard that song and clapped to the beat for each chorus! She gave out a big yay at the end then applause.


Panther piss, check! I think my cat might pee on some of my heat treat gear too.




I did heat treat until late last night... wow! I've heat treated something like 75 knives and tools in the last couple of weeks. I enjoy heat treat but this has been gnarly! Everything came out straight and that makes me happy! I just assembled 5 rough folders and everything is dead centered and crazy smooth. :cool:
 
Oh yeah 4 TJT blades in 62 RC XHP! Fricky too... as well as a one off folder in CPM154. I also heat treated a matching mirror pair of D2 tantos and several RF1 blades in CPM D2.

I have a couple of Ti TJT blades going from scratch too.

I might have to bust out the spraypaint for one. :D Maybe that good BBQ paint even. ...or that cool granite stuff. Do they have red granite?

I do have a tanto blade that is 4" long going on the one-off! Slitting saw!!! :D
 
Nice!! You got the saw setup? I really enjoyed it, but ultimately I think the discs may be faster. Please let me know how that works out!

Hey guys!

It's my Friday, but I have to work Monday though. Buuuuut I'll take the double time pay on Monday! Might get another AR done with that extra money. I've got 3 more lowers to machine this weekend, 3 different receivers (upper and lowers) to paint, and two to build. Trying to convince my mom to let me build her new AR upper for her as well. Lots of gun projects in the queue.

The insurance guy came and looked at the car today, now just waiting to hear from them to see where we should take it for an estimate. It's an '01 civic, but has been a reliable and good car. We're already planning on it being totalled out, didn't really want a car payment again right now as all 3 cars are paid for, but qué sera, sera. Wife was a little sore yesterday but is feeling fine now.

Daniel, I've been thinking that I might need a knife to go with an AR15, something kind of classic but still tactical. I think my next build will be a Vietnam era style A1 replica for fun and plinking. Triangle handguards with a 20" pencil barrel and everything.
