The Club and Improvised weapons thread (Post your Handy work!)

I think I've hit a new extreme with making prison-style shivs.

I now present the tactical prison shiv.

As you can see it has everything the mall ninja inmate needs. An exposed tang end with lanyard hole, electrical tape handle wrap, a front choil notch prior to the chisel bevel edge grind, and tanto point. The only way it could be anymore tactical would be if the entire construction was solid plastic, had finger jimping along the spine, and was painted solid black.

Huh, just realized I never posted a finished picture of my war hammer

Haha. I built it in junior high. You should have seen the bus drivers face when I took it home.

I've always wanted too make one, but the thought of having to do all that shaping to get that hexagon shaft just seems monotonous.

Octagon actually. Doable on a table saw with little effort. For me the hardest part would be the patience to drill all those holes, and screw in all those carriage bolts.

They make a carriage bolt with a hole in top to be screwed in with an Allen Wrench.....then you could use a bit adapter in a cordless drill to set them.... I promise ya, if I EVER do another one, that's the way I'll go....

Screwing them all in wouldn't be as hard as drilling all of those holes, and getting them not only straight, but evenly spaced. That's a lot of work, and I don't think I have the patience for it.

KC-

Nice Ripper mod. The only thing stopping me from making one of my own, is that I don't wanna pay full price for a brand new aluminum baseball bat that I'm just going to cut open.

Yeah that slowed me down too until a friend of mine that runs a pawn shop sold this bat to me for 5 bucks :-)

You're lucky, I've been checking every pawn and thrift shop in the area. If there's a cheap aluminum baseball bat to be had in the area, it's the town's best kept secret.

Really? I go too a lot of antique stores and I see dozens of old wooden and aluminium bats for sale. Try antique stores in which they have booths rented by multiple people.

I'm trying to translate those runes, but I'm having no luck at it. I'm not getting any good references on Celtic or viking runes.
