Wow! Went through the 20 pages like a kid through candy
I've always loved making weird improvised weapons.

Being a proud Appalachian American, who was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky, and never venturing very far from the sanctity of this holler, I marvel at the tactical engineering feats of the folks who post in this thread! I will admit, whenever I see this thread updated I get an anxious, warm feeling(almost an adrenalin rush) that runs along my spine as I click the thread to open the new post in my browser window. Kudos to all, and the will to survive!

new project for today... The Epic Flail

1. hit hardware store for parts...42.00 later, check!
2. cut steel pipe down to 6 inches with angle grinder.
3. pop 3 holes in pipe on drill press.
4. use angle grinder to cut out wing shaped flange area on top of pipe.
5. sand top of shovel handle till it just barely fits in pipe and hammer it down in place, secure with 2 bolts.
6. drill holes in pipe nipple for allthread bolts to run thru on drill press.
7. cut allthread to length, attach with nuts thru pipe nipple
8. drill 1 cap for nipple to run eye bolt thru...attach bolt.
9. attach head together and secure to chain.
10. attach chain to steel pipe wings with bolt and paint all metal components.

heheh I hope you filled the tube with molten lead at least! :D

sounds like you watched the same video I did LOL.... no seriously though, I was going to, really was.... but after getting it all put together and trying it out against a tree, I honestly don't think it would be usable with the extra weight.... as is it would drop a charging rhino in its tracks with a good swing, adding that much lead to it would ruin it IMHO..... that head assembly weighs a good 2.5 to 3lbs

The one in the video was made with a 4 inch head, mine is 6, it was also made with a much thinner spike stock which was welded in, mine has the extra weight of the larger stock plus the actual nuts holding it on...I dunno man, after swinging it around awhile this afternoon..... I'm ok where its at.

the video link for those who may be interested......the original design from whence this idea came....

Next project....I think I'll call this one the "Chopstick "

This one has been in the planning stages for awhile now, but not quite ready to execute....till today....

1. find the perfect Osage Orange limb....air dry it for 3 years till its hard as steel.
2. use 60 grit flap disk on angle grinder to debark it and rough shape.
3. hand sand, mark and drill holes for blades ( blades are combine section knives, serrated 7 teeth per inch, this particular brand " SCH " is hardened all the way thru unlike most which are just hardened at the tooth edge making them true knives)
4. Grind off the safety points on the tips of the blades in order to " weaponize " them
5. stain wood, paint blades....allow to dry.
6. final assembly, use grade 8 bolts to attach blades to handle....party on Wayne, party on Garth....

I need to do some sort of handle wrap, but I'm out of strip leather at the moment, and I'm not pleased with the way Paracord wraps on longer handle sections so..... That's a step I'll revisit soon...just wanted to go ahead and get pics up while its fresh rather than wait a few more days till I get more leather in.

As it seems WW1 has become a trending topic lately, I decided to try my hand at a simple trench club. Made with a wooden rod, and I fixed the furniture foot to the end with a thick bolt and glue. Stained the wood and wrapped in goat lace. I wanna test it out, I'm not sure how well the head will hold up, I might look into metal and a better way to fix it on there.
