If I HAD to take a folding knife, Recon 1, or SR1, MAYBE the AD-10. If I had to use a 4max I’d like for Krein to thin up the blade.
I have a Recon 1. It’s a good knife. My next Knife purchase may very well be that new Drifter 3.5. I like the idea of the new atlas lock (I know it’s a rip off of the shark lock, but Demkos are hard to find and usually out of my price range.) The SR1 is neat too, because of how ridiculous it is. I doubt I would carry it much, but like my ZT0200s and 0909, they are just cool pieces to own. That new CS drifter would get more pocket time than any triad lock for me. I’m just hoping the S35VN version comes close in price to the Recon 1 and the SR1.

So, this is not a straight answer, nor answering my simple question.
‘All this talk about Krein, who’s not taking any folders blade regrinds for a long time, is just taking the subject to different route.
If you’re bored, find someone else to play with. I gave you an answer, just not the one you want. Bye.

The way I see it is if I’m going to be hiking I don’t want a 4max banging around on my leg. It would be a pack knife for me and that justifies a fixed blade.

The recon1 is a pretty hefty blade as well… AD-10 is borderline pocket/pack. I carry it sometimes but it’s still a chonky boy. The Code4 is another fairly robust knife but water+smooth aluminum is a bad mix.

I wanted just straight answer, which you choose not to provide for some reason.
Actually, you picked completely different knives, so this answers my question, thanks.
‘BTW, do you actually own and use the knives you mentioned that you’d pick ?
Just curious…

This is the way I see it, too. If I'm going to carry a 10 oz. blade into the backcountry it's going to be a fixed blade. Still, on the job site, when the weather is cold the 4 Max might be handy in a Carhartt pocket, when continuously getting a fixed blade in and out of a sheath might not be as convenient. I rather like this behemoth of a folder, although I can't seem to imagine a time or place when I would use it. But different strokes for different folks.

It’s sort of like this for me: I’m glad I have the 4max… I never carry it… and I’ll never sell it because I paid $80. It’s the biggest folding knife I’ve ever had, and that means something I guess.
