The Competition Finish Is Gone . . . . . .

seriously, paint stripper + 15 minutes = cf.

Isn't competition finish bead blasted as well to remove the decarb? If so, this is definitely not something most people will have access to. Does anybody know of alternative ways to remove the decarb?

Jerry, if we know CF, love CF, and want CF, since CF doesn't cost any more... and we can clearly point to ourselves on this forum, why not cut your costs, and just let us order (stealthly, of course) our favorite finish??

Just don't advertise it.

Competition finish never was an advertised option in the first place. Jerry also stated earlier in this thread that it wasn't a matter of cost, but rather the potential negative effect to their reputation.

Will definitely be sorely missed. Thank God we were at Blade this year and my much better half was able to score the envelope to allow us to score the TGLB M in CF. If I want to strip my tanker gray TGLB to match it, how would I remove the scales?

I wouldn't worry about removing the scales. You can get all the finish removed without removing them.

This sucks, I sold a bunch of my users a while ago and I miss my CF-TGLB the most, I didn't mind the machine marks in the least. Tried to re-order one a few weeks ago and got the sad news from Lexi :(

Anyone that just can't stand the machine marks on theirs, feel free to send it my way :D

When I placed an order for my SHBM, I asked to buy one with no coating so that I can do the finish on it, I was surprised to find out that it was not possible. Now after seeing this thread I know why, thanks to some picky and not very bright fellas out there...

Sad times in the land of infi when a couple morons screw it up for hogs and piglets that have been hanging around for years...

My suggestion would be to give the 'offended' customers MY phone number.

People that do not understand "competition finish" would be offered a compete refund provided they send the knife to me.

I'd offer this as a free service. I think that's fair.

I'm not sure I can have enough Comp finished Busse's. No glam, no glory... just business.

.

My favorite finish.

Thanks to the jack wads who managed to get it taken away from us.

Feels a bit unfair being punished for the mistakes of a few morons who couldn't read the words in front of their faced .

Comp finish has been my favorite finish to date... that's what got me started with Busse. THOSE OF YOU WHO COMPLAINED BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T DO YOUR HOMEWORK; FEEL FREE TO TAKE YOUR OWN PINKY-FINGER AS PENANCE... You may remove it with your 'perfect' satin blade.

That's pretty much all there is to say. These people are nothing more than thieves and scum. It was very clear to all, exactly what the competition was. What they did is no different than going out and buying a V6 pony car, then taking it back to the dealership and demanding a free V8 trim package. It's already been said but, the fact that BUSSE COMBAT treated these people well is truly magnanimous.

I suspect it's about the on-selling of the knives. Someone new to the Busse scene buys a knife on the Exchange or eBay or wherever, and it's a competition finish example, and they are shocked to see their $500 knife is covered in machine marks. They complain to Busse and to others. A lot of people would't know what a competition finish is and they just see an apparently poorly finished knife that costs a lot of money. Not good for Busse.

I love the comp finish but now I'll just pay for a satin job, which will get nicely dinged up anyway ;)

Chris.

IBTL :)

Sad to see the option go but it is gone.
