The CRK Insingo Hangout!

It's spring, gardening time.
Prep the soil.

Open many bags of manure with the Micarta Insingo.

I have another Insingo, but the Micarta is the one. By the way it looks much more "used" in person.:)

Well - I just joined the club! Ordered a small micarta insingo with silver lug and backspacer from ksf. They were kind enough to look at a few of their stock to find me one at 50% lock-up or less. Just a thing I have..

I'll be watching the mailbox pretty hard next week...

So I have a question about the insingo blade design. I absolute love the design, and seems like the best suited blade design for a small Sebbie. But what exactly is the purpose of the semi-sharp swedge at the top front of the blade? I'm sure there was a purpose behind this, but I have no idea what it would be for.

I'll post picks once I get it!

The swedge is imho more for aesthetics but it does aid in stabbing. Personally I have been using it on scratch cards and it does a better job than using a coin.

I've found that the swedge is a great aid in penetration. This improves ability to accomplish some fine work with it. My large and small Insingos both have far better piercing capabilities than my large regular Sebenza. So I feel that it is definitely for function first and aesthetics second.

Thanks for the replays guys. That makes a lot of sense now. With the sheepsfoot design it makes a great slicer but without the swedge would be poor for penetration. The addition of the swedge makes it great for both tasks. Such a great blade design in such a perfect host. I also love the incredible blade to handle ratio of this knife.. really looking forward to getting my hands on it.

The most functional aspect of the swedge IMO (and the reason I prefer the insingo blade), is that it allows the knife to be used for scraping things, and striking a firesteel, without dulling/damaging the blade's edge. The insingo design is just very versatile.

I was working with the Scouts and we were drilling holes in PVC pipe. Some holes needed a bit of cleaning or reaming out and the Insingo blade with that swedge worked perfectly. Like both sides of the tip were removing material.

LightGuy, that is some nice canvas Micarta, and congrats.
:DAs you use it, it even gets better.

Thanks guys.. I'm lovin it so far. Hard to see how a knife can get much better than this.

Just got NIB Large Insingo from 2010,S30V and no Idaho Made. Was looking forever for this particular one.Great knife.
