I love bullnose skinners like that. That's a mean swedge, that would be a fun build.
 
Not as pronounced as that Randall, but here's one of mine. I'd love to do a leather stack like that.

Hollow grind the main bevel and flat grind or file the top swedge I don't think it would be terribly difficult, nickel guard and butt cap with stacked leather washers would add a time to the project.
 
We've got a slight problem there, I'm not set up for hollow grinds and I've never done one. Scott's right, that would be best as a hollow grind considering the main grind height being fairly short. I think I could do a flat grind but might not be able to get a swedge that drops that low without being really thin. I do love a bullnose like that and we may have to figure something out.

(This is where we hint at Scott to do a collaboration one day;):D)

That was a knife that I spent a few years trying to get it the way it was in my head. I must have drawn it a thousand times and modeled it up a hundred. I still have it, it was kind of a nemesis. It's comfortable and feels just right to me. It was an early attempt at a hamon which came out way too high.

I have a feeling that if hunters see that it will become a favorite very quickly. It just looks like it will work well and looks to be very comfortable.
 
I always considered pairing it with a small bird/trout type blade in a leather pouch. I think you could dress just about anything with that combo.
 
I think that blade has a hollow ground main bevel and a flat ground or filed top swedge, I'll look it up in a bit if I can but Sheldon would know for sure. I do like that leather stacked handle.

I agree. That would be a hunter or hunting guide's perfect pair. Find some walnut and stain to match a fine hunting rifle stock and...

I like John's design better. Unrelated; of the roughly 500 RBS knives made to date, only two were made 'Plain Jane' in SS as shown above, and only one PJ in carbon steel - I was the original owner of the CS variant.

Thats a hell of a group of Randalls Shel, thanks for the trivia. I've had an antler handle on the back burner that I need to make the guard for, seeing these always gets me wanting to do more leather stacks.
 
Leather and stacked are two things that should always go together.
 
Those are crazy, but people were smaller and had tiny hands back then:D
 
I think they hired a bunch of little carpenter ants to make those.lol
 
Elves and fairies where used to complete most task like that.
 
I'm working on one of those right now.

It should be done around 2077 if I don't screw up half way through it.
