The Endura Thread

Thanks JJ, I just ordered one. I have some red trainer scales I’m going to swap the teal ones out for!

I thought about getting one and doing a scale switch myself but I have more than I can carry often already. The red should look good on it.

I resemble that remark! And am finally settling on what I really use and like .. only took me 50 years lol.

Took me 46 years, but my taste in knives are constantly changing. I started life in knives with traditionals, but sold those off to buy modern knives, and now find myself leaning back towards some of the traditional blades!

That must be a thing ... very similar to my journey.

I prefer MXG clips myself.

I am surprised that you sold the Endura , I was to late. I would have used it for my S30V.

I have an S30V one arriving today, that I’m gonna throw some red trainer scales on. That one and my Supergold one are my only two Enduras currently.

Here's my Endura family:

From left to right: V-Toku2, HAP40, Super Gold (SG2), Gin-1, ZDP-189, Super Blue (or Blue Super), and CPM S30V. The upcoming K390 one will be joining the family when it drops.

I also picked up an ATS-55 third gen Endura after taking the above family photo:

While I like many Spydercos, and have many many other knives to boot, I really think the Endura might be my favorite folding knife of all time. It may very well be the best damn production knife out there, in terms of functioning well as a knife (as opposed to a toy). The blade shape, blade length to weight ratio, ergonomics, strength (the lock back is one of the most reliable locks out there, and with their steel liners Enduras can take a good beating), thinness behind the edge, ease of use (it's easy to open and close one-handed), variety of steels available, price, etc.—everything combined makes it hard to top in terms of the knife you'd choose to actually cut stuff.

Sounds like you need to try an Endela! IMO, it’s the perfect Japanese FRN Spyderco! I’ve carried one almost every day since receiving and can’t wait for some sprints and exclusives to start dropping!

Same here, I'm loving my Endela. Near perfect dimensions, and I am really digging VG10 so far.
