I hate to hear that.... I've heard similar stories of people getting screwed over situations like this. Crap like this seems like a good way to weed out the strong. Some companies would rather have mindless drones than independent employees with a brain on their shoulders.

Hey Thorny, my Wetterlings handle is very slender. If you've got some calipers measure yours at a couple of spots and lets compare them. Man, I don't know what they sent you but I'd send it back.

Glad you liked it wood. I remembered you had a splinter avatar so I kept to the ninja theme. And of course, Wu-Tang stuff is ninja too :D

Talking about 90's hip-hop... I recently heard Illmatic by Nas, considered to be one of the best hip hop albums ever...pffffft not impressed at all. I can pick a dozen of hip hop albums from the 90's that would shame that without even trying to.

Todd, I really don't think they can require you go out of town without covering your expenses.

Trade turns out I finally got someone live at the place that sold the axe and they are exchanging it with one thats not messed up.
The handle was very nice actually, just slimmer than I expected. All I had to do to make it pretty comfortable though was sand the narrow egg shape up near the head into a less edged shape and it feels pretty nice now.

Yeah, I'm in no way backing down on this. Something else I "polietly" told them today. Unfortunatley our union and there reps are more intersted in eating cheetos and wacting youtube videos to help me. (That's no lie) Its just a pissing match at this point. I've been round and round with them before, always seem to work out in my favor. I expect this won't be any different. Just agrivating that I have to fight tooth and nail with these guys just because I'm not one of there pets.

be super polite, and also inform them in writing (email and printed?)... "well sirs, i understand the course is $2000 that you paid, i greatly appreciate the opportunity, but i cannot afford to be out of pocket $1000 at this time, i hope you'll pay all expenses as you did for so and so and such; as well, the school says there are not refunds, so we're in kind of a pickle here"

then in person, when you hand them a printed copy suggest something like "oh, i just wanted to add, i'm no lawyer, but i asked a friend, and he THINKS the state and federal law requires employers to pay such work related expenses such as this, including reasonable per diem, tips, and what not. can i borrow the corporate credit card? i don't have the cash."

:D

I want to do ^ THIS! I've made the drive with 3 other drivers and it took us right under 40 hours. It was still a hell of a feat! I want to break this record though. I've had a thought on what vehicle to use, I have actually put a LOT of thought into it.

I've done marathon-esque drives a few times. I've decided that I'd much rather take my time if I can. I'm defiantly done driving more than about 12-14 hours by myself.

I use to love driving around exploring by myself, Id hop in the car and drive thru several states just to get away and see something new, then turn around and go home. fun times.
