I tried that thing as a kid, someone always cheated, i tried it by myself nada. Even though me and the wife was watching something a while back and and we started talking about the board and then looked up how it works or if someone is suppose to cheat and we found this article saying when someone is not cheating it is a phenomenon known as ideomotor effect.... i dont think the one below is the same article but it was similar... But i dont know really.

And i agree somethings you just shouldnt play with, But I think thats what excites people to try them things too.

Its going to be cold here in Colorado this week. Temps in the -20s predicted in my area with 6-15 inches of snow. I love big storms, I hope it goes crazy. :)

Lucky dog, I love the snow. Believe it or not, it''s supposed to be 62° here tomorrow, then Thursday, the high is gonna be 31°, with a wintry mix developing into snow. Good ol Illinois weather. Calling for more snow on Sunday. Bring it.

84 today... 81 wed and thursday... then supposed to be a high of 37 saturday.. that is why we get sick this time of year here.

I got a story about those boards that you sit around and ask questions to.. I don't like to think about it and/or repeat it, but I am a firm believer in there are some things you are just not meant to F with..

One time as a teenager we lead a "ghost" tour through my home. basically a bunch of our friends following us around on halloween while we walked from room to room telling all the stories in that room. We were in the dark using candles and everyone was accounted for. Out of no where we heard a huge BANG from the other side of the house. We ran to see what it was and the utility room closet door was open and everything on the shelves had fallen off. It was a fairly large closet with wide shelves too so it was very strange. Most of the stuff that happened in that house happened when we were talking about it.

Broke my pistons out today. Here's a photo of them again, along side a BK2 for size reference:

I wasn't sure how good they were going to work, because I store the plunger inside the piston, which you're really not supposed to do. It flattens the o-rings, or string out. I did lube them all with Vaseline before trying.

First up, is my Jeff Wagner Wilderness Solutions piston. I like this one, It works very well. Only downside to it, is that is has a stem made of Delrin, which melts a bit, if you're not quick to get the ember out. It's the one on the right in the above photo. Loaded it up with Chaga fungus, and it worked on the first try. Usually does, but was surprised, because of the o-ring being flattened out:

This is probably my favorite looks wise. Red stag horn, with a bone ember pick on the leather lanyard. It's made by Rose Mountain Fire Pistons. It works well, but the end is a bit unusual, and it makes it harder, imo, to get the tinder to stay in place. Worked on about the 3rd try:

This is my Primal Connection piston, made by Darrell Aune. Traditional string gasket, which has the cool factor, but doesn't really work as well as the o-ring pistons. The string was very flattened out, and it took me about 9-10 times to get it lit:

This is my James Spily custom. It has a long stroke, and normally works on the first try. The o-ring was so flattened out, I had to change it. No compression at all:

This piston came with a cool little ember pick / o-ring changer:

Slide the o-ring over the pick, and up the shaft:

It's machined to fit perfectly into the tinder pocket, which enables you to easily slide the o-ring onto the shaft. Works perfectly. It's a hell of a nice idea:

Loaded, and fired on the first try:

Last, but not least is my Wilderness Solutions, water buffalo horn piston. It's also a string gasket piston. It did work on the 3rd try:

It was fun to get them out again. Thanks for looking.

Lucky, I love that type of weather but here in Oklahoma it happens like maybe once a year, and is only around for less than a week. BUT everyone in the state freaks out like it is their first time to see snow and they are sure God is trying to smite them... Plus everyone in some sort of large jacked up truck decides its their time to shine by driving like a maniac down every road... they are usually the ones stuck in ditches and wrecked etc etc.

Thanks for the pics, Warrior. Interesting topic.

No problem. I actually posted them on my fire piston photo thread, but decided to post here, since it was a topic earlier, and led to me getting them out again. They're a lot of fun.

Very nice collection Warrior! some beautiful pieces there..

lol, someone throws some ice cubes on the road here and the city shuts down... :)

I go to bed late and last night I heard foot steps, I figure I would shut everything down and head to bed only to find my son in the dark in my room behind one of the double doors just standing there, I asked him what he was doing and he simply just ran back into his room in a reverse motion, like rewinding a movie while its playing... I dunno what's going on but that was the wierdest thing I have ever seen... Yesterday morning he woke up with scratch marks on his face... Not sure what to think of all this...

I once had a roommate who would sleepwalk and do all manner of bizarre stuff, including making a snack and leaving it on the counter, having partial nonsense conversations with himself and others and wandering back to his room mid-sentence, just generally creepy stuff. Nothing ever destructive or violent. Never remembered a bit of it. He was totally straight-edge BTW... definitely not drunk or high. *shrug*

It may be nothing, or it may not; I have no idea. I would certainly keep an eye on the little guy.

In college, I woke up to find my roommate pissing in my laundry basket at the foot of my bed. He swore he was in the bathroom and just needed to go.
Sleep walking or passive aggressive behavior?
