The Chimay Blue is pretty good stuff. I have it a couple times a year as a treat.
Just got back from the beer store and picked up a bottle of that, along with a 4-pack of Goose Island Bourbon County. .
I think that beer was discussed a few days ago. 14.9%ABV!!

Can't wait 'til after work to try my "Congratulations on Taking the Shaft of the Illinois Court System Like a Man" consolation prize.

Well, 10$ is cheap for that beer. Called back to ask if they had some left (they had 48 bottles to start with), but everything was gone after half an hour, they said. They would be gone if they asked 20$. They would even have been gone if they had asked $30. They sell for a lot more on the web, and then you still have to pay for shipping. Don't want to sound elitist or anything, but "beer" isn't "beer". Whiskey isn't whiskey. Jack Daniels isn't 10yo Talisker. A Spanish Cava is not a Veuve Cliqcuot. A Stella or Heineken is not a Westvleteren 12. You gotta have 'em to taste the difference though. I sure as hell enjoy myself a good lager like Stella, it's probably the beer I've been drinking the most since I was allowed to. But it's like with everything: you get what you pay for. Sometimes you just want something different, something réally good. You pay for the taste, the craftsmanship, the exclusivity, the brand, the awards it has won (with reason),... Anyway, not going to get in an argument about it, just wanted to share my thoughts on it, and my opinion is: it's worth it. Even though I prefer other (cheaper) trappist beers such as Rochefort 10 even more![]()
I have not ventured too far into trappist beers but have enjoyed the ones I've tried.
I agree with you.
That being said, I still enjoy cheap beer once in a while.
