The final Snarkdown!

Picked up a box of hammer and axe heads at a junk shop the other day for ten bucks and started working on them today. Got this 1 1/2 pounder cleaned up, sharpened and re-helved and made a dandy boy's size axe.

Lucky dog! That looks really nice. I have been scouring the estate and flea market sales in hopes of finding some old hickory knives and a good double bit. Tons of axe handles but no one seems to have any heads. Coincidence? I think not. :D

hahahaha! daddy pops..

Call it daddy juice around here. Little one saw me drinking whiskey and decided it was apple juice. All I said no its daddy juice. Luckily I try not to do that around them and make sure not to leave it within their reach. No drunken children to report.

That axe head looks great--fun project there.

I've been playing with my new Queen 4180 in the yard between study breaks; I'm really enjoying this knife.

The only marking on the head is "P". I've seen these around before but don't know the origin. Maybe somebody on here can enlighten me. Seems like good steel though, I just went out and split some ash with it and I like it.

I guess I could go post it in the axe forum....duh. :D

Nice, Trade. I love working on old axes. It's going to be dangerous when I have a spot to work on them. My heart was broke this fall at a yard sale where there was a tarp laid out with a sign $1 ea... On it was a bunch of "junk," a few worn machetes and a hand full of axe heads.... and me fresh out of the green paper money. :(

Oh, and the "Arctic Death" already started up here.

Finally started reading "American Sniper", I can't believe it took me this long to get around to it. A damned fine book.

RIP Chris Kyle. If you're enjoying that one, you might also try Marine Sniper, by Charles Henderson, and Shooter, by Jack Coughlin (Gunnery Sgt, USMC, Ret). Both are excellent reads, in my opinion.

Ask on BCUSA. Some pretty knowledgeable peeps over there when it comes to axes. Almost looks like it has an "I" on the other side.

I've read "Marine Sniper", back in 8th grade or maybe high school. Definitely a worthy read! I've not read "Shooter", I'll check into it, thanks. "One Shot, One Kill" is great as well as "Dear Mom, A Sniper's Vietnam".

What kinda hammer heads did you get? Been looking around for some old ball peen heads to try and turn into tomahawks.

One of my favorites is "WAR" by Sebastion Junger. Then watch the documentary "RESTREPO", it's companion film.

There were a couple of Euro style cross peins, a cobbler's hammer and some blacksmith made claw hammers. You can see two of them in the bottom pic. One finished.

Pretty awesome looking, makes me want a svord!!

This is not mine, it belongs to a guy on another board. He did a good job making it awesome though.

I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a set of black G-10 scales from TKC.
They'd sure be nice on that new 9'er that Ethan is sending me.
There's a 5% off discount code too.
They're a little bit pricey, but I sure love the feel of G-10.
