The First Five Years! GEC!!!

The White Owl!! Small cigars!!!😁White Owls 1.jpgWhite Owls 2.jpgWhite Owls 3.jpg
As 2011 was coming to a close, Bill brought in a new pattern, that made nice Christmas presents for a lot of people!!! This wonderful single-spring knife was right up my alley!! And Bill would do a few specials in those days!! I brought him a nice Tusk, from a pre-WWI established date, and he handled some knives in it, on occasion!!
Note The PPP marking for the initial production version of the pattern!!
I carried the Ebony version a little, but the other two are safe Queens!!
(have you ever noticed that the White Owl's name is Howard???) 😁

A couple of 56’s from 2011…

Keep these great early GECs coming, folks!!
They called this slim knife the "Western Trapper", and in 2010, they made quite a few versions of them, including some Stag models for AAPK!!!
A graceful yet sturdy knife, this pattern goes back many years in the history of cutlery, and has gone by many names; Farmer's Knife, Slim Trapper, and Serpentine Trapper to name a few!!!

I just picked up the stag white owl(latest model),I would describe the pull as medium,I'm curious about the early white owls.most of the reading I've done on earlier gec is that they were alot of 7 pulls and higher.was that pattern specific or were they all strong pulls.i prefer the tough pulls, but I'm actually appreciating the medium pulls on some patterns such as the white owl.

Please post a pic of the stag!!

I find the pull on the White Owls just right as they're a cam knife- smooth. Loud snap on the 2011 ones I have especially the Acrylics. Last run is good but not such impressive snap but still very OK, a smaller single-spring knife is much better without a half-stop in my view.

waynorth waynorth Charlie, I just might have the tube for that wooden White Owl you showed...the Northfield with the bail hole filled in? I think it is one Paul the Scots policeman who used to post here and had a large 25 collection, sent me after I sent him a Micarta 25. I then sent it on to a US member but without the tube, it's actually Coco despite being very dark near black. If I'm mistaken please forget this post :) here it is/was

Ha Ha!!! It's the same knife!!! (Now famous!!!😁)
The subtle brown streak and other details give it away!!
A generous offer, Will, but since it is a user, I don't think it justifies international shipping!!
Thanks for the kind proposal!!

Thanks!! Nice Stag!!!
Ya it is probably the best stag I have along with a case medium jack.mine like alot of the new white owls has blade rub.i bought as a lightly used, which allows me now to have a stag user in a nice pocket carry size with usable blade. Unfortunately I was raking some leaves before the snow came last night, and on the driveway were small tree weeds growing through the cracks, they were to embedded for my beat up body to pull out,if left in the snow shovel catches on them ,so out comes the knife, and chipped the blade on the concrete and rock after doing 8 or 9.it only took a fine stone and leather strop to make it sharp again.but such is the life of a gec in canada lol.
