The bottom knife is the Illusion I was talking about. The swedge does not reflect directly, so it disappears, giving the knife the look of a traditional upturned bowie even though it is a drop point. Brilliant and probably unintended result. Love it.

I was hoping for a nuclear micarta
But no luck , but I like the Digicam g-10.
Sent it off to Ozarks Leather smith for some pants and I’ll post pics , also sharpening the top swedge when I get it back.

The black coating is not smooth more rough feeling not sure what changed or why?
I’m going to baton it though some logs and see how it holds up, Also I find the handle slabs are not custom fit to the knife. For $90 dollars they should be custom fit. The metal is rounded so that should help , but the metal sticks out from the scales which after chopping it won’t be very comfortable…
What do you guys who have regular slabs think? Are yours smooth feeling?

I can’t recall off the top of my head if this applies to all Meldtown blades… but this Triceratops (Meltdown) has just a fuzz sticking up past the slabs.

I’d rather tang protrude slightly above vs. apex being flush & then each side being recessed (making a dual channel). If the flat part of the tang was sticking out past the slabs more than 1/32” or 1/16”?... I would probably prefer it didn’t.

Sounds like you would have preferred it to be like NMSFNO… with handle spine/palm flat/flush & just the extreme outer perimeter w/meltdown… is that right?

FWIW… line drawing shows it to be like Triceratops… meltdown above handle slabs.

That is the sage coating with tan canvas.

willmtn1 is correct. Desert Sage and tan canvas.

I like that combo. On the last few releases, I picked the Desert Sage and green canvas on the FBM and ATR

When I get them, I scrub the handles with hot water and Dawn and a toothbrush. You can see how light the green on the FBM got. Doing this with intention to removing and dyeing them later. Might strip one too. We'll see if I follow through with that.

Feels great in hand and when I first saw peoples pics I didn't like the clip, now I really like it.
The handle is great. I have large hands, but I understand why braggarts with XL + hands may find it a bit small.

Just got in mine with liners straight from Chernobyl!!

Can't affordable one right now but if you get tired of it at one point let me know maybe I'd be to take it of your hands. Those colors are special to me.
