Here are some first photos and a short video of the first GSO series prototypes. These are prototypes and the final versions of each will be of a higher finish quality than these. The GSO-4,5 and 6 will be available for purchase in 2 weeks.
These will all be marked "prototype" since each of these have been hand convex ground by Bark River and aren't to production specs. If you like the knives and what I'm trying to do, please consider purchasing one of these first models from me so I can continue to make neat things in the future.

The prices will be as follows: Updated Prices for these prototypes!!!! THIS IS A BLADE FORUMS MEMBER OFFER ONLY!
GSO-4 $155
GSO-5 $165
GSO-6 $175

These prices include a custom Kydex sheath, made by Kiah.
All knives are CPM 3V, heat treated by Peters Heat Treat to 59-60rc.

I only have a limited number of each so get them fast if you see something you like.

UPDATE! Let me put this in the first post also, so nobody misses it. Before they are even finished, I'm officially sold out of GSO-6's. If someone backs out and you would like to be notified for a second chance offer, please email me at: guy@survive-gear.com Second chance offers will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. Some GSO-5's and a few GSO-4's are still available. Just drop me an email to lock in a spot. If you have already contacted me about a GSO-6 and I have written a response confirming your reservation, please disregard this message.

I'd like to purchase the GSO-4, I sent an email with some questions. Thanks!

Guy, I just found a picture with all your prototypes you posted a while back. It showed 2 GSO-4 with orange scales and another in blue or black scales. The blue or black one appeared to be slighter shorter right? I'd like to speak for the one with blue or black scales first then the one with orange scales second. Maybe I'll be the first person to purchase one of your knives! Just let me know and I'll send payment.

v/r,
Kevin

Ok, now I have some coffee in hand. All of my GSO-4's are the same size, right about 8 5/8" OAL. I am working on a new model to replace this one, the EDC-4. I made the new design based on blade forum user feedback. It is slightly longer and a bit more sleek looking than my original GSO-4. This first run of GSO-4's will be the only ones ever made, so if you like one please pick it up. Only 30 of these will ever exist. If nothing else, that would be a fun thing to brag about.

Several handle configurations will be available and will include canvas micarta and G10 materials. OD green canvas, natural canvas, black G10, camo G10, camo canvas, orange G10, and coyote brown G10 will be available. A few others will get thrown in there just to keep it interesting. I will be offering some with glued and pinned(corby bolts, heads ground flush) handles and some with bolted handles that can be removed.

I know in your email you asked about a military discount. Just to keep it fun, I would consider an additional 5% discount to active duty military and LEO. Just be ready to show me a copy of your current ID. I know it's not huge but it is something. And when you factor in that I include shipping to the lower 48 in my price, it's not a bad deal at all.

Guy, is it possible for you to email me or post a picture of all the GSO-4 with the different scales that are available so I can pick one that way? Paypal ok?

v/r,
Kevin

Toward the end of next week I could do something like that for you. The materials should actually be showing up in the next day or two and will be getting worked on toward the end of this week/early next week. I can always take a photo of them all and you just pick the one you want when they are finished. I will be shipping the knives to Kiah to have a sheath made individually for each knife. Since these knives are all hand ground, I want to make sure the sheaths fit each knife perfectly. I'll see if he would be willing to drop ship the knives after they have sheaths made for them. And yes, paypal is fine.

Sounds good! I'll be looking forward to seeing the line up! Should I just standby for an email from you at a later date?

I'll make sure you get an email when the ones for sale are all finished. I'll be selling these on a first come, first serve basis so you are up at the front of the line.

Here is some more testing. Not scientific at all but it was fun. lol I am very impressed with the peter's heat treated CPM3V.
Just to be very clear though. It took 3-4 feet of leverage on a 6 foot pipe to finally make the knife totally fail.
Any other type of abuse testing you people would like to see? I'm doing my best but am always looking for fun, new ideas!

And here is some more traditional knife testing, using the GSO-4.

Great to see ya put turn those concept drawings from a while back into reality. Coincidentally, just the other day I was thinking about these knives and what ever became of them. Those are some very competitive prices as well.

Guy-

What's the timeline on when these will be available to purchase?

Edit: I think I saw where you said two weeks, so around the 18th or so? :D

These will be good to go in about a week and a half. Anyone wanting one right away will be able to get a knife with no sheath immediately. Those wanting a sheath can have their knife drop shipped right after having a sheath made for it. I'll have plenty of photos for everyone to check out as soon as they are finished. And yes Atama, right around the 18th. I caught your edit. ;)

Thanks for the kind words! It has taken some time to get everything moving but it is finally rolling. All the design time and hard work has paid off. The knives are looking great and cut like crazy!

Thanks for locking me in. I was wondering what to expect when it comes to scale colors and that kind of thing. I'm not thrilled about orange to be honest but I'll take what I have to. Natural canvas, or green would be 1st, and second choices though. I guess I need to do more research eh?

Thanks again!

No worries, you won't get stuck with orange. I picked up handle materials from Tracy at USA Knife Maker. They include camo G10, camo canvas, od green canvas, orange G10, black G10, coyote G10 and natural canvas. Even if you don't get first pick, you won't have a lack of options. ;) We can save the orange for someone who wants it.

Thank you. Sounds great. It's a nice selection. This is a top of the line project with excellent materials. Very nice prices. I'd imagine the prices will eventually have to go up. These prices are very low. For those that are new to 3V it will be a nice surprise. It's a great steel for these type knives.

I'm a lot more excited than I thought I was going to be. :)

Ok, a little about the configuration of my knives. Since releasing my test videos I have had an outpouring of people asking me to beat them through cinderblocks, steel plating, hardened bolts, bowling balls etc... I designed my knives for efficient CUTTING and to that end they feature a convex grind down to a thin zero edge. These knives have tremendous cutting potential and bite very deep. They have fairly thick spines to handle batoning and the twisting forces of hard use. The CPM-3V has been hardened to rc 59-60, for a good balance of toughness, edge holding and ease of resharpening. These knives are designed for a lifetime of use as a cutting tool, even under the most trying circumstances.
If you primary concern is being able to hammer through hardened steel or cinder blocks, please look elsewhere.
I just had to throw that out there because the focus seems to have shifted away from a knife being used for cutting and more towards a knife being able to be used as a wrecking bar. I certainly could make wrecking bars. The problem is they don't work too well for cutting anything.

That's pretty clear I'd say. I'm glad. If I wanted a pry bar I'd buy one. This saves me from having to regrind the knife down. I don't have a lot of use for knives that don't cut well. No problems or misunderstandings from this customer.

I have a S7 knife over .330 width. It always seems to stay at home. It could make a great stake, or a railroad spike but a comfortable cutter it isn't.
