I found this little guy in some pinestraw outside a building I was working on a few years ago. Its a frost Cutlery ...... huh, I forgot the model. POS maybe? Anyway I carried it for a week or so just for the hell of it.
I have much better knives so if this little blue gem wins I'll upgrade a buddy or find someone here that could use a new knife.
That's the " elite ranger ".
My brother carried one for about a year because he loved how he could open it by simply flicking his wrist.
It's truly a miracle that it held together forever a year.

The knives are always junk, but James A Frost sure is good at naming them.
How can you go wrong with names like
Elite ranger
Delta ranger
Delta Ranger 2
Delta command
S.A.R
Ultimate undertaker
Swamp lizzard
Apache ranger
Apache longbow
Eagle eye
Storm chaser
Storm chaser 2
Snook
And the list goes on of names that makes the knives sound Badass to those who don't know any better.

There has to be more crappy knives out there! It looks like the prize pool might be over $50 now with some of the offers to support the cause. Somebody could score themselves a seriously sweet knife.

Keep the crap flowing cuz...well, everyone knows what happens when the crap gets stopped up!

just to contribute some crappy knife content , heres a picture of the blade I carried most as a teenager.

The blade sucks, and it's super rattly, and Boker should be ashamed to have their name associated with it, but it cut stuff and never closed on me or anything.

I am by no means calling this old gem crappy, but she’s seen 32 years of use (neglect). The spring is not existent anymore, the LL Bean badge is long gone, and she needs a little help opening and locking.

That said, it still has that “heft and feel” of a USA made Schrade and maybe with a little TLC could be brought back to its splendor.

Oh and I’m not entering because I’ve had the good fortune to have earned enough paper over the years to purchase nice knives.

Cool thread and a wonderful gesture to a deserving recipient who needs a new knife. Awesome people on this forum!

If you squint REEEAAALLLLLY hard (begin with eyes totally closed, open imperceptibly until light leaks between your eyelids), it looks like a Reate Wave.

You can enter, you'll just need a third party image host. Check out Imgur. It's free and easy to use.

I can't resist, sorry. I have a definitely crappy knife (only one, I think ?) while I hoard mostly affordable knives. Still, this one is a gem of its sort. It was dirt cheap (sold on a local market in the boonies) and yes, you could see the steel was cheap, the horn scales were cheap, the F&F was cheap BUT... the pivot was absolutely tight, the spring rated an 8, at least, and the blade was almost 4" (love at first sight !!!!). It was my one and only EDC for years, then retired to kitchen duties (I loved to cook with that knife !), then forgotten in a drawer (for decades). That thing has still plenty of life in it and that's why I cleaned it, oiled it and polished it to present it to you in all its (remaining) glory. It's an excellent knife on my scale (40 years of use & abuse) and the crappy rating is just due to the original extremely loose build criteria. Just adding, not competing in any way, I have tons of nice, nicer and nicest knives, so there's that. And if this ever comes to fruition, I will also add 10$ to make someone happy with a better knife. I remember the glorious Buck I didn't dare to buy in the 80's and settled for a Puma instead... Not my baddest choice but 10 $ more can make for THE good choice. Just saying.

OP
Nice gesture to get a knife in the hands of someone with only a crappy knife.

I hope that it goes to someone worthy.

Im NOT in the running, as I dont consider this knife crappy, though it no doubt is just that in the eyes of some (and thats just fine:)) but it sure is cheap (less than $10 shipping from Japan included).

Posting it because cheap knives.

I thought this knife was cool once. About once a month I need to dispose of carboard boxes from shipping. It should be able to turn Amazon boxes to ribbons with the quality "S30V" steel, right? Ouch. Jimping can be painful in the wrong size/quantity.

Front runner for me so far... only way I see this one getting beat is if someone shows up with a video of them trying to slice something with a tac force and it literally falls apart mid cut... :D

Haha carried this thing around for a couple years, got it at a flying j. It was only like 12 dollars so i wasnt afraid to use it, man that thing has been abused lol. Most of the screws fell out, but some other ones that kind of fit and some threadlocker took care of those. The blade always has dents in it no matter how many times i tried to sharpen it because when it closes it hits the little pins inside the handle lol. All in all it was a good knife for what it was, never afraid to use it because it couldnt brake much more, You just cant abuse an expensive knife like that.

I would have totally voted for you :p

Cool thread, Hackenslash Hackenslash . Here's mine with a bit of history to boot. At the time I bought this, sometime in the early 2000's, I thought this was a pretty good blade. I picked it up for my Canadian nephew for Christmas and my wife asked what I'd paid. She said we don't like him 40 bucks worth and I kept it. It was one of my first modern folders and I EDC'd it every day.

It got a lot of hard use at work and started to wear down. On a camping trip with my wife and middle son I broke the tip off for the first time--bummer! I re-ground and re-sharpened and the knife started to get more and more abused. By the time I broke it off again, it had become my second carry work beater as I came to always have a good quality modern folder for a work user clipped in my right front.

Some fifteen or more years from the beginning, this old POS is no doubt my most carried and used knife. Always on me at work (accompanying anything from a Spydie or BMK, through a CRK or RHK, up to a Shiro worker user) and used for all those things one shouldn't do with a knife--scraping glue, pulling staples, cutting up against drywall or masonry. The quality work users rotate, but this little guy is with me almost every day in the bottom of my left front.

I bought a new one after I first broke my beater, but never really used it.

Liner lock's all the way over, but surprisingly no lock-rock yet. Centering's pretty much all to one side too, but not quite rubbing. Pretty poor blade-to-handle ratio at this point.

The blade's all scratched up and the finish was dremeled off. The edge is wicked broad from the tip being ground back twice. Lots of chips too, so I'll be sharpening it again soon.

This side looks even worse. The knife carries tip down only, to add to its intrinsic crappiness. The original clip screws fell out one-by-one and the knife now sports slotted replacements from the local hardware store.

I don't know if I have anything worth posting. And, looking st some of these, I don't need the coupon like some of these poor unfortunate souls!!!

Buck isn't known to put their name on garbage, so I suppose that's why this knife is still usable today.
