The Hinderer bug

The Hinderer itch is a constant recurrence for me. I've gone from around 8 or 9 Hinderers down to lately, just a couple. Lately I'd gotten down to just one 3.5" Skinny Slicer, which I love. But tomorrow's mailcall will be adding a 3" no choil Slicer to that. I suspect a Triway Half Track may be in my future soon too... :D

Would love another Hinderer, but until there is the ability to flip the clip for left hand carry, I'll unfortunately have to look at other manufacturers.

I'd love it if ZT would make the XM 3" cause the 0566 just begs for Ti and ball bearing action.
Absolutely. There needs to be an XM-18 3.25. The 0566 lands squarely in between the 2 sizes (3.5 n 3.0).
The 3.5 is a bit big for some and the 3.0 is a bit small for some. 0566 is like a perfect size.
Don’t get me started on ZT and their lack of Ti back and SpeedSafe shenanigans on the 0566!

Damn Knifecenter (i'm kidding guys, you are actually my preferred US retailer!) got the ZT0562 on closeout price which got me looking into them...
Long story short, 'm waiting for my ZT0562 which i found in a really good price, and that will be my very first Hinderer (design) experience,
so i really hope i don't get the bug...the cure is quite expensive and doesn't always work the first time!

Good mail call today. :D

First impressions of the Full Track:
It's a freakin' beastly, bulging thing. Love it. Detent is strong, but I have zero issues flipping her out every single time.
Fit and finish are top-notch. Sharp as shiznit - hair popper.
So far so good with my first true Hinderer after 10's of ZT/Kershaw clones.
Worth $600?? Too soon to make that call. I love my $200 ZTs a LOT.
XM-18 3.5 G6 Swedge Spear gets here Monday. That'll be a true test as it's a bit more my style. Looking forward to that one!

Nice! I'm definitely interested to hear your opinion since I have the xm-18 and the full track is next on my list. I'd have one sooner than later but the Ranch Bowie ended up in my collection first lol.

Mail Call! I've got the bug real bad. XM-18 3.5 just got here. I've got a blue/black scale on order for it.
XM flips super smooth - perfect detent. That Battle Blue is a crazy finish. Kinda iridescent in the light.

I am waiting for a 3.5 spanto gen 6 un working finish to be available

I really like this grind :)

Well, it was only a matter of time. The last two nights I was up at 2:30am looking at these things on the computer again. So this morning I put the order in. A 3" XM-18 with a slicer grind (I like using my knives for cutting and don't care much for prying things or stabbing cars). I had a surprisingly tough time finding exactly what I was looking for: 3", slicer, stonewash blade and lock side. I wasn't real worried about color as I also bought a dark green scale I intend on swapping as soon as they show up. Eventually I was able to find what I wanted at DLT Trading.

When I'm done it should look just like this:

I will tell you this. If you've been sitting on the idea of a Hinderer and lack of funds aren't what's been stopping you, maybe it's time to make a move. The bookmarked page I had for the dealer that had the knife I originally wanted was no longer in stock when I went to buy this morning. Other options (not the combination I wanted) were "critically low" if they weren't out of stock as well. Nobody had the green scales in stock except directly from the factory, and now the DLT Trading page for the knife I bought this morning lists it out of stock so I must've got the last one.

Bug bitten....my third Hinderer, in the last two months, will be here tomorrow...wife unaware.

No problem! Just don't use it when she's around for a couple months. Then when she finally sees it & asks if you bought a new knife, you can truthfully say, "Nah. I've had this for a while." I wouldn't suggest trying that more than once though.:)
