Has anyone mentioned that WE LIKE PICS?!?!?

Thanks Stump Buster. I'm definitely planning on taking a lot of pictures and video. It's a trip that my father-in-law has been trying to put together for a few years. He tried to go last year but the rangers wouldn't let anyone hike in because of the absurd heat in the Southwest. I think it was 120F or something in Phoenix at the time. I couldn't make it because I was recovering from nearly dying of sepsis from a ruptured colon resulting from a disseminated histoplasmosis infection (probably) contracted while doing international construction; it really messed me up. Incidentally I underwent colostomy takedown (reversal) surgery when the HOGB8's were released. Placed the order from my hospital bed. For me, the HOGB8 represents the end of a very real nightmare that I can finally put behind me (my final checkup was at the end of April). I wouldn't bring a HOGB8 backpacking though, because that's just too much bacon to lug along for 24 miles, but the opportunities for nice Busse glamour shots are very tempting. Instead I'll have a Swamp Rat Rodent Solution with me, and a friend of mine will have his CG Park Ranger, so I'll still get in some Busse/kin glamour shots. Been preparing for this trip for many months, meticulously planning pack loadout, grabbing gear, exercising, booking hotels and planning driving routes. I live in Houston though, so there aren't exactly hills with which to train. And because I live in southeast Houston, I lost my apartment and my car in Hurricane Harvey (2017 was a hell of a year), finally settled on a TRD Offroad Toyota Tacoma back in February as a replacement vehicle, so the trip planning began extending beyond the Grand Canyon hike to be a road trip with some offroading action. My wife and one of my good friends will be riding with me, while the in-laws drive separately, because after the canyon we'll be heading somewhere to do some more camping. We've mostly settled on a change of scenery and heading from the desert to the forest, driving some trails in San Juan National Forest around Clear Lake in Colorado. Trails look pretty mild, nothing extreme, and it looks super nice out there. Sorry for rambling, I'm pumped for this trip and for HOGB8's about to be released into the wild!

There's nothing quite like an order from Busse "Awaiting Shipment"...

Closest thing I can think of is waiting for that just-right-crispy Bacon to hit your plate!
