THE Hollow Handle Knife Thread

Thanks Druid, I do like that one a lot, its a great size for almost everything except chopping, just not enough forward weight to be effective. I do really like the flat grind, starts at 1/4" at the spine and tappers nicely to the edge and its also tappered to the point, I'll try to get a spine pic this afternoon.

Curiosity got the best of me, bought a Schrade SCHF1SM.

Gotta say, for a entry level priced import, initial impressions are that it seems pretty well made.

How good is the sheath? I've heard it is feels cheaper in person than it looks. The snap looks like it has changed, as if inspired by the adjustable snap of Spec-Ops, which has a very chunky and high-quality feel to it. The separable front pouch looks completely new to me as well.

I think there have been some changes. I thought the strap used velcro, but this one is an adjustable metal button snap.

Sheath is ok, not spec ops quality, but it will do.

Wow, it even got a tool-kit inside the South African style end cap, wonder if it`s interchangeable with the original CRK? Cool...

I've been saying it for a while but if a knife is going to have a saw back then that's where it should be, close to the handle, not right down towards the tip as on WSK knives and such.

More of a rasp style saw but it works.

I had one of the schrade hollow handles. I removed the tool kit in the cap and drilled it out to provide more storage space

Thats one hell of a knife!!! Tell me about the back of the blade- dosn`t quite looks like saw teeth to me?

Thanks in advance.

Definitely more of a rasp type saw as Caine said, but it does work well. Same saw Newt put on the Caiman model

We have about 4 of them. We use them a bunch. Tough as nails! Did they start stamping the Schrade in now? That would concern me if they did. Sometimes stamping on the blade can cause problems with heavy use by causing a stress point in the blade.

My newest find, a Vaughn Neeley. Fairly short blade, but nice balance, and a unique way of attaching blade to handle.

An interesting touch, not visible in the photo, but the top edge has micro serrations. Maybe to cut wire?

Not mine, but saw it online and thought the pictures would be interesting.

It appears there has been some change, I got this SCHF1 today (top) and comparing it to the SCHF1SM (bottom) I got last week, the SCHF1 has a gold colored raised logo, while the SCHF1SM has it stamped into the blade.
