THE Hollow Handle Knife Thread

Hmm.. Sometimes I have to dump extra water in to get it to flush all the way.. I dunno.. Lets try that..

This thread has given me hope about these 'rambo' knives tho.. I am glad they arent all like the one I had when I was 10..
Lets call em 'magic hat' knives.. You never know what a fella's gonna whip out of his...handle..

Sam Wilson, your take on them has a quite unique look. I like it. Glad to see a custom maker turning these out and making them stay respectable.

Gaston if your commenting on my knives edges and thinking they are factory you would be mistaken. I simply know how to sharpen them correctly.

Lol, and Thank you, Andre. Much appreciated. Stick around and enjoy the thread, there is probably a greater variety of maker's and their knives here than in any other spot in the world, all waiting to be admired and commented on.

Dave, you've got it all wrong. The bevels on your knives aren't nearly 3/16" wide and wavy as heat coming off Vegas asphalt. You clearly have no idea what you're doing. Gaston has set the industry standard in this area, and dare I say the world. Just ask him, he will tell you. If he can't produce narrow, crisp, polished bevels, then certainly you cannot. :barf: :D

Recently, there was a very rare hollow handle Randall on the big auction site. Model 15 clip point Solingen blade, crutchtip cap and riveted Johnson Roughback sheath. First one I've ever seen. Probably from the 60s or 70s. Thought you all would enjoy seeing it too.

Nice find, Tom. I don't recall having ever seen one of those either, but I'm not quite the Randall guy you are, either.

Thought I'd post one I finished awhile back, another SAFE knife with the green/brown combo. I think I made a compass sheath to go with this one too, but I will have to dig through the pictures and see if I have it.

Hey, this is a Great thread. It has been going on for a Long time!! I had a stroke on August 17, followed by a serious heart blockage. Almost had to undergo heart bypass surgery. Thank God though, I didn't!! And I've been on medical leave from work but heading back to the grind on Nov. 2, 2015!!! Praise The Lord For That!!

But anyway, No,vdon't close this long on-going thread down just because some idiot dumbass wanna come here and flap his gums about Absolutely Nothing!! Ha Ha!! Keep this page Alive And Kickin'!! Besides, I bought me quite a few new knives and also having two more made as we speak. I wanna be able to jump on here and tell about them.

And not sure what is going on, but if someone is coming here and bashing on hollow handle knives again, saying how worthless they are, then I am sure...Naw...I know for a freaking Fact...that These people that are doing the bashing, have Never owned a Real True Blue Handmade Hollow Handle Knife. So before ya bash, go on out there and spend the bucks...buy a high end handmade Andrew Clifford, Newt Martin, Ray Matton, or Gil Hibben (and many more) hollow handle knife. Take it out then, on a Rough It Survival Style camping/hiking trip!! And Then come on back in here and honestly and truthfully bash hollow handle knives!!! I just Know ya won't be able to...At least not and be truthful about it!! Ha Ha!!

Folks, Ill be coming back more and more. But I want to sat this really quick:

Sometimes when ya see something that just catches yer eyes, and ya find yerself going back and forth to it, and that little inner birdie keeps saying, "Buy it, Big Surprise! Buy it, Big Surprise!!" Then ya had Better buy it. Cause about 8 months ago I had same thing happen to me. So I bought this handmade Damascus Steel knife and I just shelved it athat nd left it untouched!! Something about it just stood out!!

Well sirs, I just learned today that something very special about that knife. The knife maker that made it, made it with heating up a jagged block of iron that his son had found in the desert about 8 years ago near their home. Not thinking about it, the guy was low on his steel and grabbed that slab to heat up and forge with the other steel in order to make the Damascus steel blade knife that I bought and now have.

Today, I suddenly get all kinds of emails and offers from the guy wanting to buy or trade for the knife back. I have done turned down 4 offers from the guy, Including one offer involves a brand new AR-15 rifle as part of trade!! LOL

Turns out that the slab of iron or steel ore that the guy used to make the Damascus Steel knife, was the thing his son found years ago in the desert. It turns out that the Damascus steel blade knife that I own, which the guy has been trying All freaking day to get back, is a Damascus Steel blade knife that was made with part of a Meteorite that had broken off of a meteor from space and landed in the desert close to their home!! LOL. Can ya Believe it? Something told me to get that knife. And that same ill birdie...I will call God, just for arguing sakes, t old me to shelve the knife and leave it Untouched!! For Once in my life, I listened!! LOL.

Now I know that I should be this Good Samaritan Nice Guy that I have always tried to be, and let the guy buy this knife back, or trade for it, like I normally would do. But sooner or later after you get crapped on and taken advantage of so many different times, even us Very Nice Guys draw the line at some point when we have had Enough. And so, I am gonna just Keep this rare knife gem of a find that this guy and his son want back so very badly!! After all, it's Freaking Mine, right??!! LOL!!! THE END!!

If you guys want a really good high end handmade hollow handle knife, I encourage you to look for an Andrew Clifford aka ACK knife, Ray Matton handmade First Blood Tribute knife (Absolute Best Made FB knife yet!!), or Newt Martin's excellent MCE II, Aparro 9", and or his Surv9!!! Truly the Best Of The Best in Handmade Hollow Handle Knives, these are!!! Unless of course, ya got thousands of dollars to blow....If you do,then you can end up with an Original Handmade Lile Rambo or Sly II knife.

Andy Wood makes an extravagant handmade hollow handle First Blood movie knife too!! It has been said that Andy Wood's Handmade First Blood and Rambo Mission knives are the Closest you will ever get to having the same exact looks and specs of the Lile First Blood knife.

But I always wanted a superior quality Ray Matton First Blood knife. I was Blessed with buying one made by Ray, and also a First Blood movie knife made by Canadian master knife maker Bill Schiller, the knife maker who mentored and who Taught Ray Matton how to make knives!!

Wow...The same identical style knife, two of 'em...One made by the surpassing student, the other made by the teacher that taught him!! A true and rare Blessing in one's life!!

And not sure what is going on, but if someone is coming here and bashing on hollow handle knives again, saying how worthless they are...

No HH bashing going on, just differences in sharpening techniques and outcomes.

Glad to hear you're on the road to a complete recovery.

Another interesting and rare Randall. I have never seen one before. Could be a one-off. A Model 1 blade with a hollow handle.

Nice blade, J-Utah. Looks like there is plenty of handle to hold during more aggressive use, also. Guard looks nicely rounded, too.

You can buy from a Randall Dealer, some have them in stock ready to ship. 3 to 6 months deliverly on ordered knives. :)
