The Junglas Machete

lol hes leaking specs right here in front of RAT cutlery workers, funny. are the handles typically factored into the blades listed weights? and can some one account for the 8oz difference in weight between the rtak and junglas? seems like an extreme difference for .25 longer blade. am i missing something? like i was thinking maybe the rtak handle is heavier? or maybe it has to do with steel composition? though they both say they are 1095

I haven't read all the posts yet but if the contest is still open I think a long distance foot race would be fair!

I've seen varying weights listed for the rtak ii. I've got one, and it doesn't -feel- like a 30 ouncer. I haven't put it on a scale though

I'll be fondling a Junglas in the morning and if I can't take pics at SHOT I'll do my best to try to get Jeff to let me bring one back to my room to shoot some photos.

Worry not my friends, there will be info, oh yes, there will be info.

 Shotty, your the best! Last year I remember a few guys took pics of the HEST at Blade Show, that is why I asked to take pics here at the Shot Show.
Sorry did not know pictures are prohibited Mrs. S-gunner, didnt mean to put you on the spot, thanks for whatever you can do though. I envy you guys getting to see the Lite Machete and Junglas machete, I have been counting the days since the New Year for these (and saving my shells).
Have fun....:grumpy:

"Joe Schmo" here. These specs that I posted on the first page are from Jeff, the owner of RAT cutlery:

Weight: 22.5 ounce
O.A. Length: 16.5"
Cutting Edge Length: 10.0"
Thickness: .188"
Blade Width: 2.0"
Green Canvas Micarta Handles
Overall handle Thickness: .81"
Powder Coated Finish

I'm not sure why Mrs. Shotgunner says that no official specs have been released. Jeff is about as official as it gets around here ;)

Those were the specs for the prototype.

The design is, for the most part the same, but some tweeks were made here and there and Jeff hasn't given me any specs on the final, production version.;)

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I know the blade was canted forward a little bit from the proto version shown which I think is a definite improvement. Other than that it looks pretty good to me.

BTW, I didn't mean to call the Mrs. out I just didn't want to look like some "Joe Schmo" (although I guess I am) ;)

Damn that blade is beautiful! Will look better in my hand though busy buttoning through a log!

That's good enough for me.:)

Someone sounds like they're having a good time! Party on Katie :D
Hope you guys all enjoy the rest of your trip.
