The Just Hanging Out Thread.

I have 3
Gec 72 lockback wharncliffe
Case copperlock mini and full size
Case mini wharncliffe trapper

If you count Saks than the alox cadet trumps almost everything including moderns.

I have seen them type of knives,I don't know if it's the same ones you guys are talking about but, I have seen case, and gec.i like them if they are a little bit bigger,I dont like the very small ones.

Hey everybody, I’m curious about how many of us are using the knives that we received from the pay it forward thread.

For example, I received a Swiss Army knife clone that I reach for almost every single day. Surprising really. Here I have knives worth $80 to $120 and I am reaching for a clone knife worth just a few bucks.

I also received a Benchmade 550 that I have big plans for once the Jeep is fixed and holidays are over.
I carry the Case Swayback Jack and the Case single blade Wharncliffe Mini Trapper. As I’m writing this I preparing for a hunt in New Hampshire, the 3 knives I’m taking are from the PIF, a Schrade Golden Spike, ESEE Izula, and a Buck 722 Spitfire, hope they all get used.

What is your guys favorite slipjoint if u had to pick 2.

GEC 81 bull moose and Lionsteel bestman 2-blade. The moose pattern in general. If the lionsteel was without half-stops it would be an easy win, but the GEC 81 feels so much nicer to operate without the half-stops and it very well made too.

I like the lionsteel but if it had one blade, the rounded one

Do u like tanto blades if there not to big
I have two tantos, one 21 and one Inkosi, both large. I don’t mind them. They did take a bit getting used to for use. They do good for work, slight prying, draw cuts, scoring Sheetrock, stripping wire, opening packages, etc. Its like having two edges. Once I got used to using them and how to make them work to best potential and technique I don’t mind them a bit. Now with that being said I wouldn’t choose a tanto as my one and only. Probably wouldn’t even choose it over Insingo shape, And definitely not over drop point, but they are not a bastard shape as some think. Nice to have in rotation tho. They’re not for everyone

Thank very much for your answer.

Ok so just got home and this was in the mail. I swapped a mnandi for the small Inkosi with Insingo blade. Definitely a keeper, definitely going in the rotation.

Fit and finish is typical. The wharniefoot /sheepscliffe blade shape is extraordinary, basically a concave recurve with tons of belly.

That said the extra finger groove wasn't necessary and bc of that you need to have an exact average hand size for it to be a perfect fit. I suspect that there will be for most ppl at least one or two hotspots near the tip of the pocket clip / lockbar cutout and also the second finger groove. Size is perfect for urban edc but... I can easily see someone saying it's a rip-off and happily carry a mini grip.

As they feel about the same in hand. This one has the big pivot ratcheted down so there's no flicking it open either. Will leave it that way.

That’s one Crk I have never handled, small inkosi. I do have a small 21 and it is pretty close to too small for me. I think the small Inkosi is just a touch smaller than the small 21? I love my large Inkosi’s tho. The extra finger groove doesn’t bother me unless it’s draw cuts. And it doesn’t bother me that’s just when I feel it. I do prefer the grip of the 21 better tho if I had to choose. When I got my first insingo I fell instantly in love with it. I do a lot of draw cuts daily. It’s just a very useful utilitarian shape. I always carry a lefty Crk and a victorinox electrician in my right pocket that way I always have a sheepsfoot even when I’m carrying a drop point Crk. I keep my pivots set where there’s no flicking either. I love to get the full hydraulic feeling

I thought the exact same thing as I had the Wilson Combat large and smalls for a spell. The Inkosi Insingo handle seems to be thicker than the 21 and more hand filling which is what has instantly sold me aside from the Insingo blade shape which has more belly than the 21 Insingo. The thicker handle makes it kinda a fun chunky tiny edc.ita definitely going into my regular rotation now. I generally edc mondau to Friday similar smaller blades, less than 3 ounces, flat scales, under 3" blade. Except for the metamorph which I'm going to proselytize is a folding bird and trout + super slicey blade.

Spyderco UKPK by far is the slip joint I use the most. Not the prettiest but it’s one hand opening, also able to close it one handed and the finger choil insures you will not close it on your finger.

I'm like the exact opposite of bikerector lol, I love a good half stop. The Spyderco Urban became a favorite for me bc of that over the ukpk. The urban is part of my regular rotation as well.

Interesting on the half stop. I have both (jist pulled them both out) and your are correct the half stop on the Urban is more aggressive. It also makes it harder to close it one handed. Your post made me realize I guess I don’t love me a hard half stop.
