The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Interesting. I was under the impression that the zaan is hollow ground the same way as the Seb 21/31. But it's like the Inkosi?I

I may be mistaken on the wheel size for the Zaan. It is hollow ground like a Sebenza.

Thanks, that's the sort of experienced and technical knowledge I was looking for. The only one I've ever laid hands on was a Zaan and I remember being impressed.

Anyone ever seen any of the three with a polished blade? I've seen on special dealer edition Zaan, but it seems that was a long time and no longer available.

Whats the opinions on aftermarket sebenza mods? or embellishments? Does CRK void warranty?

Buy a CRK because you want a CRK, and yes most actual mods will void warranty. If embellishments include engraving CRK will do a lot of it. There is a question if simple ano will void, ive heard both yes and no. I do know any finish changes ( scotch bright, polish, blast) will void.

o definitely, thats why i keep it to the plain janes. personally, the inlays took away from the knife. Ive only held the plain janes. Ive seen some after market ano jobs, or like small engravings. I do work with an engraver from time to time and she had mentioned how difficult it was to engrave titanium. Not that I would test it on my small 21s.

I keep meaning to get the official word on engraving from CRK. It takes 8 weeks for them to do it…I could get it done from others in 3 days but need to be sure it’s fine. Its just Intials.

right exactly, something small, im not talking their official logo things that ive seen or like the Think Twice Cut Once. I enjoy the plain smooth ti slabs as it is. there is just something elegant about its simplicity.

They will still work on the knife, you’ll just be charged.

I swapped the studs out on one of mine.. and have glass beaded a few… as for the glass blast, you’re not going to tell the difference, but if I get asked I’ll disclose it.

For those with the lanyard pin still in but without the lanyard attached, does that pin rattle a bit? or is it suppose too...

Mine always have. If you put a little chunk of cord through it, then burn both ends so that they "smoosh" in and tighten up (with a hot knife or woodburning pen)...it will keep 'em from rattling.

That's a good idea. Do you need to redab after disassembly, or does it make a sort of filler from that point on that will rejoin tightly?
When I take mine down for cleaning I clean all parts then just reapply when putting together. You just pu a dab on the collar then reassemble Ive had it last many months between cleaning.

So I just got off the phone with Tim Reeve. He’s engraving my daughters Sebenza today and wanted to make sure of the date and capital letters. Turns out I made a typo and the engraving will be a bit off on mine but my daughters will be perfect. He offered to replace the lock side on my 21 because of MY typing mistake. I told him not to dare use up a 21 lock side on that! Had a nice chat, thats customer service at its finest!
