The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

It’s nice to have a thread to post ramdom musings.

My son used my small regular today and remarked “dang that’s smooth” 😃. There is something about the old school sebenzas that’s just different.

After 10 days of use and 9,432 cycles, here are my experiences:

It came exceptionally sharp. I don’t think it’s the factory edge, definitely looks stropped to me, but I’m not sure how they sharpened in 1998 🤷‍♂️. It’s sharper than my other knives. BG42 takes a keen edge for sure.

After the first few days the lock stick was horrendous. I thought I might have to send it in. I’m not talking about a little unlocking resistance, at times it required two hands to unlock. I tried all tricks, nothing worked. I just kept carrying it and fidgeting with it. Then the lock stick just went away. Not suddenly, it just got progressively better and now there is no stick at all. Smooth unlocking like my 21. I suppose the lock face broke in? I don’t know but it adds to the enjoyment for sure.

The blue on the thumb stud is starting to show the typical wear. I have had silver hardware before so it’s my first experience. I like it.

The sand blast is so nice. The newer sand blast is coarser, which I like, but the older sandblast is like velvet that is smooth and grippy at the same time. It feels amazing.

Today was the knife’s hardest use. I cut quite a few sprinkler nipples, opened bags of soil, plastic tubing etc. Obviously the knife performed well but as I sit here in the couch after a long day I’m surprised to see there’s no need to touch it up. Feels just as sharp as it did this morning with no visible changes to the edge either. That’s pretty sweet! I admit I was careful, I’m not quite to the point of using it with reckless abandon.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Sadly tomorrow is my last day carrying my knife for a while. I have to travel for work.

So I’m walking across my loading dock this morning and see something on the pavement in front of me. Pull out my light and…WTF?! My hand goes to my pocket and…no knife.

Now I know what the sound was I heard when I was getting out of my truck and walking to my shop…

Always listen to that little voice asking “ what was that?”

So glad you found it my friend. This is why I go clipless. I feel it is more secure for me.

Snag on the seatbelt? If so, been there done that for sure.
Im guessing yes. Ive snagged on untucked shirt tails before but that’s the first ive caught the seat belt. I have on a brand new pair of jeans that are a different brand then the normal Carhartt I live in. Wondering if the different pocket cut / opening placed it in a slightly different place?

I once flung my "Regular" out of my gov't vehicle via getting caught in the seat belt. My heart stopped for a moment after I heard it hit the ground...but in the end it was not much of a deal, and only required bending the clip back to shape.

Glad you found your baby, Clay. It would've been a lousy day.

Looks like a Malkoff running a Cree XPL.

Thanks Elliot. Ya the day would have gone down hill fast! If I hadn’t found it when I did it would have either been picket up by someone else and lost forever or run over by at least 1 tractor trailer and I don’t even want to think about that.
